Almost forgot one more success from this weekend.

While conducting diver training on Laurel Lake (Holly Bay), a boater spotted us and asked if we could help recover a phone that had been lost in a nearby cove. We took a short break from training, headed to the location, and put our search and recovery skills to work.

A short time later, the phone was located in approximately 20 feet of water and returned to its owner.

Many people assume that once a phone, set of keys, wallet, jewelry, or other valuable item disappears beneath the surface, it's gone for good. Fortunately, that's not always the case.

Whether it's a lost item recovery, underwater inspection, dock work, or diver training, Frontline Dive and Recovery is always ready to help.

We’ve got another Advanced Adventurer Diver Course coming up July 11th and 12th.

This is a solid next step for anyone who already has their Open Water certification and wants to get more comfortable, more controlled, and more confident underwater.

This class is also a 2-in-1 course. Over the weekend, students will complete 6 dives and, after successful completion, will earn both:

SDI Advanced Adventurer Diver
SDI Advanced Buoyancy Diver Specialty

The dives will include:

• 2 Advanced Buoyancy dives
• 1 Deep dive, planned around 60–70 feet
• 1 Navigation dive
• 1 Night or Low Visibility dive
• 1 Search and Recovery dive

The goal is not just to check boxes. The goal is to help you become a better diver — better buoyancy, better trim, better awareness, better control, and more confidence handling different underwater conditions.

Cost is $600.

That includes both eLearning modules, tanks, air, and the 6 training dives.

Students will need to provide their own gear. We may have a few loaner items available, but they are not guaranteed.

A few important dates:

Registration closes July 5th.
Both eLearning courses must be completed by July 9th.
Class dives will be July 11th and 12th.

Prerequisite is Open Water certification from any recognized agency.

Once eLearning codes are issued, refunds will not be available.

Spots are limited. Message us on Facebook or call/text 606-252-1000 to reserve your spot.

Another great weekend of training in the books!

Congratulations to the newest SDI Open Water Divers from Russell County Search & Rescue — Lucas Williams and Jonathan Llane — who successfully completed their certification dives and earned their Open Water certifications. Through classroom instruction, pool training, and open water checkouts, these divers demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and judgment required to safely dive independently in conditions similar to their training.

We also had two additional participants complete the SDI Discover Scuba experience: Ned Holt (his second time through the program) and Yazza R Justin, both from Somerset Pulaski County Rescue Squad, giving them their first opportunity to explore the underwater world under direct instructor supervision. It's always rewarding to watch someone take that first breath underwater and discover a passion they never knew they had.

One of the things we're especially proud of is seeing local first responders from different agencies train together. Strong relationships between organizations don't just happen during emergencies—they're built long before they're needed. Every opportunity to work alongside neighboring departments helps strengthen regional capabilities and improve the resources available throughout the Lake Cumberland area.

Thank you to everyone who trusted Frontline Dive and Recovery with their training. While we provide recreational scuba training for the public, we also specialize in working with public safety organizations to develop divers, build team capabilities, and strengthen regional response resources. Whether you're interested in becoming a certified diver, trying scuba for the first time through our Discover Scuba program, or exploring training opportunities for your agency, we'd love to help you get started.

Stay tuned for more training opportunities and future classes.

Had a great day at Holly Bay today completing Day 1 of Open Water checkout dives with some new divers. It's always rewarding to watch students gain confidence and put their training into practice in open water.

We also had the opportunity to introduce two Pulaski County first responders to scuba diving through a Discover Scuba experience. Austin Young and Ned Holt both did an outstanding job and seemed to have a great time underwater. It may not be long before we see them in a full Open Water class.

If you've ever been curious about what it's like to breathe underwater, a Discover Scuba session is a great way to find out with no certification required.

Interested in becoming a certified diver? Our Open Water Diver course includes:
• 1 classroom session
• 2 pool training days
• 2 open water training days

Upon successful completion, you'll earn a certification recognized around the world that lasts a lifetime.

Be sure to watch for another update tomorrow as our Open Water students complete their final checkout dives and, if all goes as planned, earn their Open Water Diver certifications.

Whether you're interested in trying scuba for the first time or ready to earn your certification, send us a message and we'll help you get started.

The underwater world is closer than you think.

âś… Safety Gear Ready: throwable life rings, working VHF radio or charged phone in a waterproof case
âś… Cold Water Awareness, even in summer, our rivers and lakes stay dangerously cold

Safety isn’t luck, it’s preparation.
