🏊‍♀️ LEARN TO SWIM LESSONS ARE COMING TO SOMERSET! 🌊

We are excited to announce that Lake Cumberland Swim Club will be offering Learn to Swim lessons beginning October 15!

Leading the program will be Elise Eades, an experienced swim instructor who has been providing private swim lessons for several years.

Elise is bringing her experience, knowledge, and passion for swimming to the Somerset area to help swimmers of all ages become safer, more confident, and stronger in the water.

Elise's experience goes beyond teaching—she was a collegiate swimmer at the University of the Cumberlands, where she specialized in the 1500-meter freestyle.

Her competitive swimming background, combined with years of teaching experience, gives her a unique perspective when working with swimmers and helping them develop proper technique and confidence.

Whether your child is just learning to swim, needs to become more comfortable in the water, or wants to improve their skills, these lessons are a great opportunity to learn from someone with both teaching and competitive swimming experience.

As we wrap up our Meet the Coaches series, we couldn’t end without recognizing someone who would probably rather stay behind the scenes…

If you know Brandy, you know she’d never fill out a spotlight questionnaire or ask for recognition. In fact, she’d probably rather we didn’t post this at all. But sometimes the people who shy away from the spotlight deserve it the most.

Brandy is the heart behind so much of what makes the Lake Cumberland Wave Riders and Lake Cumberland Swim Club what they are today. Her passion for swimming and her unwavering dedication to our athletes have helped grow our programs and create opportunities for swimmers throughout Somerset and Pulaski County.

If you’ve ever been to a meet, you’ve seen her in action. She’s the one capping swimmers, organizing the organized chaos of a home meet, answering questions, solving problems before anyone else knows they exist, and somehow still finding time to cheer for every single swimmer who steps onto the blocks.

Whether it’s a first-time swimmer finishing their very first race or an experienced athlete chasing a personal best, Brandy celebrates every success and encourages every challenge with the same enthusiasm.

The impact she has on these kids goes far beyond swimming. She has helped create a program where athletes feel supported, families feel welcomed, and every swimmer knows they have someone in their corner.

Brandy, thank you for the countless hours, the early mornings, the late nights, the behind-the-scenes work that often goes unnoticed, and the love you pour into this team every single day. The Wave Riders, Lake Cumberland Swim Club, and the entire swimming community in Somerset and Pulaski County are stronger because of you.

We appreciate you more than words can say.

🌊 Small Town. Big Pride. Ride the Wave.

Next up in our Meet the Coaches series is Assistant Coach Austyn Crawford! 🏊

Austyn has been involved in swimming for 10 years and has been coaching for over a year, though she’s been teaching swim lessons for as long as she can remember. A Pulaski County High School alumna and University of the Cumberlands swimmer, her love for the sport has taken her from summer league and USA Swimming to collegiate competition—and now to coaching the next generation of Wave Riders.

Her favorite part of coaching is watching young swimmers develop the same love and passion for swimming that inspired her years ago. She hopes every swimmer learns one of the most valuable lessons the sport has taught her: to be resilient and face challenges head-on.

This season, Austyn has been especially excited to welcome new faces to the pool and watch the swimming community continue to grow throughout Pulaski County.

đź’™ Favorite Event: 50 Freestyle
🥜 Favorite Pre-Meet Snack: Peanut Butter

🌟 Fun Fact: Austyn was the first female swimmer from Pulaski County High School to qualify for the KHSAA State Championships!

When she’s not at the pool, Austyn enjoys spending time at church, traveling, and making memories with family and friends.

We’re so thankful to have Coach Austyn sharing her experience, passion, and love for the sport with our Wave Riders. Her dedication to growing the swim community is making a difference, one swimmer at a time.

Next up in our Meet the Coaches series is Junior Coach Camden Dizney! 🏊

Although this is Camden’s first year both swimming and coaching, he’s already making a positive impact on our Wave Riders. He loves encouraging younger swimmers and watching them grow in both their skills and confidence throughout the season.

The biggest lesson Camden hopes to pass along is:
“Self-discipline always pays off in the long run, no matter how challenging it is.”

He’s especially excited to watch our swimmers improve, achieve personal bests, and continue dropping time throughout the season.

đź’™ Favorite Stroke: Breaststroke
🥣 Favorite Pre-Meet Snack: Granola Bars
🎵 Favorite Artist: Malcolm Todd
💬 Favorite Quote: “Be the change that you want to see.”

🥢 Fun Fact: Camden loves Asian food!

When he’s not at the pool, Camden enjoys drawing, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with friends.

We’re grateful to have Coach Camden helping inspire the next generation of Wave Riders.
