Six of our athletes competed at the Great Southwest track meet in Albequerque which is the best of the best from multiple states. Our athletes did really well representing AZ and our community. Ryder Hall won the LJ and TJ with marks close to his PR’s and got third in the HJ. Jayci Ballard won the hepthalon with a new PR, 4510, in an exciting finish. She was in third going into the last event, the 800. She had to beat second place by three seconds to move up a spot and beat first place by 18 seconds to win…she did it! Bryn Kupfer placed 7th. Conover Pitts had a lot of PR’s and placed 5th in a very competitive boys competition. Last year his score of 6023 would have placed 2nd. Seth Lancaster placed 9th. Hailey Jones had three PR’s!! 100m 12.24, slightly wind aided or she would have had a school record. 200m 25.26, 400m 56.94. She also placed 4th in the 300h. So proud of all these kids. They’re just really hard working and amazing in every way.

Our boys took 5th place at the Open State Championship track meet! Pretty incredible. We had a shot to win the whole thing but injuries kept the stars from aligning for us. So proud of our boys team. Ryder Hall won the TJ but had some quad issues after his prelims in the hurdles on Friday which set him back for Saturday. Despite being injured he got 4th in the LJ. He would have certainly won if he were not injured. He wasn’t able to hurdle in finals because of his quad. Despite his injury he powered on to HJ and won with a PB of 6’10! It was beautiful!
Conover Pitts got 5th in the 300h and improved his school record to 38.50. Jacob LaDuke won his preliminary heat on Friday in the 100 and was seeded second for finals but pulled his hamstring in the 200 which he was on track to make the finals in also. Gionn is still recovering from an injury but made it through and he, Seth, Hayydn, and Conover got 5th place in the 4x400. Proud of that scrappy group! So exciting. Cody Potter threw jav and our 4x100 with Otto, Conover, Gionn, and Jacob just missed making finals.
On the girls side we had some disappointments and triumphs too. Jayci Ballard made finals in 100h and 300h (8th in each) with new PR’s in each, the LJ (7th) and 4x400 (9th) Hailey Jones placed 7th in the 300H and set a new school record 43.46. The 4x100 team Emma Brimhall, Rebecca Ballard, Mariah Tingey, and Hailey placed 8th. The 4x400 team of Jayci, Mariah, Bryn, and Hailey got 9th, they set the school record in prelims on Friday 3:55.03. Bryn Kupfer threw jav and HJ also. Ranell threw shot and disc and Mairead threw shot also. It’s been an exceptional season full of highs and lows. Way to go go Lobos. We’re all so proud of you

We had three new school records set at our divisional meet on Saturday! Jacob LaDuke improved his record going 10.68 in the 100. Ryder Hall was quite ill Saturday but didn’t let that stop him from setting the 110H record, 13.99, previously set by Kyle Kartchner in 2005. Conover Pitts has been gunning for the 300h record and got it running 38.78. Way to go boys!
