What you may not realize about 8U softball…
These girls are still kids.
They’re going to strike out, miss the ball, overthrow a base, and make mistakes at the worst possible moments. At some point, every player will drop her head, fight back tears, and wonder if she’s good enough.
And yes—even the head coach’s daughter.
Because at 8U, nobody has it all figured out yet.
This isn’t college ball. There aren’t scholarships on the line. There aren’t recruiters in the stands. There are just little girls learning a game, building confidence, making friendships, and figuring out how to get back up after a tough inning.
The goal isn’t to raise the best 8/9year-old player.
The goal is to raise a kid who loves the game enough to keep showing up tomorrow.
So when they make the bad play, remind them they’re more than a scoreboard, more than their batting average, and more than one mistake.
One day they’ll remember the lessons, the laughs, and the people who believed in them far more than they’ll remember the errors.
And that’s what 8U softball is really about. 🥎❤️
