The actual construction of the new pickleball courts began today.
We currently have $539,000 in the bank relative to the $516,000 quote for the project. The Quote also has contingency money built into it. So we have a total of $71,000 in contingency funds. A total of 63% of the funds were raised through private donations and 37% comes from the State Grant.

Pictured are Steve and Jackie Miron who were significant contributors to the fundraiser, Chris Legg our Town Supervisor who has been a wonderful partner in making the courts a reality and myself. You'll soon begin seeing excavation/drainage work begin. The courts are going to be amazing.

A preliminary schedule has now been set for the new Pickleball Courts. Construction is planned to begin in the next 2-3 weeks. Paving is expected to happen by Labor Day and then the asphalt takes 30 days to cure. So the multi layer painting of the courts should happen in early October with a completion date of early to mid October. Exciting times.

Tonight we passed another step in our journey. The Town Board formally approved Vitale as the vendor. The next step is a construction meeting with Vitale. So we are making progress.

IT'S AN AMAZING MIRACLE.
We now have the funds to build the planned 6 pickleball courts along with a contingency, so we are back on track. Thanks to some very generous people. The next step is the Town Board awarding the project to the selected vendor at the May 18th Board meeting. We will then have a timeline and know when we break ground. All's good and full steam ahead.

Today marked another step on our journey to build the pickleball courts. Proposals were due today from vendors to build the courts. Unfortunately all of the proposals came in higher than our budget due to higher oil prices and their effect on materials. The lowest proposal was $60,000 or 14% higher than our budget.
We did ask vendors to also propose costs on some options we developed as a back up in case this happened. The one option that does come within our budget would be to build four courts rather than six courts. Not ideal, but it is an option. Another option is to reignite our fundraising effort and try and secure another $60,000 (not an easy task). Please let me know if you are good with going with four courts at this time or not. I am working with the Town Board in preparation for their May 18th meeting, so let me know your thoughts as soon as possible. Thank you.

Good News on the progress of the Courts. The Town Board approved tonight sending out the bid package. It will be due to be returned in the early part of May. The Town Board will review the proposals with King & King the architects and vote on an approved vendor in mid-May. We will have a better idea on timing of the build out when the proposals are submitted. I'll keep you posted.
