Prayers up for our Halli Byrd. Halli is entering her sophomore season at Lincoln County HS and fractured her tibia in a scrimmage this weekend. Halli is an excellent player on both ends of the court and we hope to see her back in action ASAP. Few kids are more competitive than this one and we know she will attack this recovery head on and be better than ever.

Let’s go Halli!

Congrats to our very own Sophie Skidmore for being selected to represent West Virginia in the upcoming Patriot Games! 🔴⚪️🔵

Sophie joined the WV Wild this season and was an excellent addition to our 2030 team. She is a hard worker and very coachable. She’s a slashing wing player with a great mid range shot. She is a threat on both ends of the court and very good in transition. She will be entering her freshman season at Webster County HS next year and we can’t wait to see her in action.

Good luck to Sophie and we know you will make us proud!

🌹2026 Run 4 The Roses is in the books.

We took 2 teams this year - 2027 and 2028. Due to some unexpected roster changes we ended up having to play most of our girls up.

🟣 2027 WV Wild
We had 3 11th graders and 4 10th graders on the 11th grade team.
- Anna 2027
- Eden 2027
- Myka 2027
- Cami 2028
- Casey 2028
- Brooke 2028
- Ivy 2028

These girls battled all week and ended up beating a Nike Select team in a tough Gold Bracket semi final matchup to make it all the way to the championship game. Unfortunately we left it all on the court in that game and had to play the championship on 20 minute rest and we just ran out of gas against a very good Michigan Cobras team. We could not be more proud of these girls for their play all week long, winning 3 games and making it all the way to the gold championship is an accomplishment and shows just how talented these girls are. These 7 girls truly left it all on the court in Louisville. We wish Anna, Eden and Myka the best and thank them for their 2 years with the Wild and wish them luck in their future endeavors. We will be there to continue to help guide them in their basketball journey. Brooke Cami Ivy and Casey we look forward to having you back next year!

🟢2028 WV Wild
Now this is where it gets crazy. We had 0 10th grade girls playing in a 10th grade division. We took 3 9th graders, 3 8th graders and 2 7th graders to Louisville. When Alyssa and Michaela got hurt Tuesday night the 2 7th graders stepped up on a days notice and made the trip to Louisville to play against girls 3 years older than them in the biggest tournament in the country. I can’t say enough about these 8 girls.
- Lanie 2029
- Halli 2029
- Preecely 2029
- Carsyn 2030
- Brystol 2030
- Zoey 2030
- Channing 2031
- Braylee 2031

These girls had never played together before and didn’t care about the stage they were on. They competed and even went down 14-4 Thursday night before going on a run and winning by 20. This win would propel them into the platinum bracket of the 10th grade division. We would face the number 1 seed in the bracket on Friday and took them all the way down to the wire before falling short at the end. They then faced another tough team from Chicago in the platinum bracket on Saturday that ended our run in Louisville. But this group has no reason to hold their head down. Not only were we the much younger and smaller team in every game, we also had 3 girls playing hurt and they never quit. We look forward to these girls all being back next year and with their respective teams and will be making noise playing in their actual division. To make it to the platinum bracket in any division at run 4 the roses is hard enough, to do it playing against girls 1, 2 and 3 years older than you is unheard of. Just a true testament to the talent and determination of these girls.

Thank you to Alyssa for coming up Friday to support her teammates this weekend despite her injuries. Continued prayers for her and Michaela a speedy recovery.

Thank you to all these girls for giving it their all for us this season and especially this week. We truly have special kids playing with the WV Wild both on the court and off. Thank you to the families for their commitment to their kids growth on the court and to the WV Wild.

Prayers up for these 2 young ladies. They were involved in an ATV accident. Thankfully they escaped without any life threatening injuries but they will be banged up for a little while. They were both looking so forward to competing in the Run 4 The Roses tournament this week and are now unable to compete. These girls embody the toughness and spirit that make the WV Wild great. We love them and wish them a speedy recovery!
