Wolverine Wrestling:
✔ 11–8 individual record
✔ Primed for the upcoming district tournament

Jareth Cota has put together a strong wrestling season for the Wolverines, compiling an 11–8 individual record while consistently competing against tough opponents. Most recently, he competed well at the conference meet, earning a split and continuing to show toughness, growth, and resilience on the mat.

On the football field, Jareth is a hard-nosed linebacker and situational tight end who attacks downhill and brings a physical presence to the defense. His aggressive style, relentless effort, and willingness to deliver punishing hits make him a true tone-setter for the Wolverines.

Wolverine Basketball:
✔ Big wins vs. Sioux City East & Sioux City North
✔ 2–0 week against city rivals

Tavin Irvine was a key contributor for the Wolverines during a huge week on the basketball court, helping the team earn victories over Sioux City East and Sioux City North. Tavin delivered clutch buckets, including a late three-pointer against East, along with strong defensive stops and big rebounds that helped fuel the Wolverines’ success.

On the football field, Tavin plays quarterback and safety, where his leadership, competitiveness, and toughness continue to stand out for the Wolverines.

Wolverine Wrestling:
✔ Strong performances vs. Sioux City East and the Lemars Tournament

Avery has been a steady force on the wrestling mat this season, recently delivering strong performances against Sioux City East and competing with toughness and discipline at the LeMars Tournament. His consistency and work ethic continue to stand out for the Wolverines.

That same hard-nosed mentality carries over to the football field, where Avery lines up at fullback and linebacker. His dedication and effort have made him a major contributor on the gridiron, doing the dirty work and setting the tone for his teammates.

Wolverine Basketball:
✔ Big Road Victory @ LeMars

Junior Linebacker and Tight End Kash Olson was a key contributor in a big road victory at LeMars this week. Kash delivered timely buckets, strong rebounding, and physical play, helping the Wolverines secure the win.

His positive attitude, toughness, and energy consistently motivate his teammates and set the tone on both ends of the floor.

🔥 DOMINIC MERRIGAN — Freshman WR/DL 🔥

Wolverine Basketball:
✔ Big Weekend Going 2-0 on the Road

Freshman wide receiver and defensive end Dominic Merrigan, this week’s Athlete of the Week! Dominic was a key contributor for the West boys basketball team as they went 2–0 on the weekend, earning big road wins over Fort Dodge and Des Moines East.

Dominic provided toughness and energy on both ends of the floor, averaging 6 rebounds per game and consistently making timely plays throughout the weekend.

Congrats to West Sophomore Quarterback Tavin Irvine, who makes history as the first Sioux City West player to be selected to the Sioux City Journal Large School All-Area Team (First or Second Team) since the honor’s inception in 2020.
