Being so attached to one way of doing things, whatever your niche is, can be detrimental to your long term progress.

In fitness, there’s always room to grow both literally and also when it comes to our understanding of the human body, and when knowing how to apply it to training.
-
Accept that most things work, or at least that most concepts and ideas provide some value, even if it is just an opportunity for you to think for yourself and discuss somebody else’s idea with them.
-
Try things for a prolonged period of time and you will see results. A difference in opinion usually comes from a difference in perspective and a difference in intended goal.

Be open, accept new ideas, think critically, try hard.

Altering body composition can be very challenging. It’s hard to go from never tracking food or maybe doing it a little to full blown macro tracking. Start small.

By building daily habits that you are capable of keeping up with will help improve motivation and adherence.

Start with 2-3 achievable daily habits, once you’ve mastered those maybe make them more specific. The more and more you detail your habits the closer you’ll get to tracking your nutrition and seeing the results you want.

The main factor for most people when choosing a gym ends at the first barrier of entry, “what is my goal?” This is because from there you’ll probably be able to make significant progress towards an answer.

The higher up you go or the more niche your training becomes, that's when you can start asking deeper questions about equipment availability.

If general health and fitness is the goal, then any environment that gets you active and allows you to surround yourself with good people, will be of great benefit.

Investing in your training environment is one of the best investments you can make for your own progress in health and fitness. We have even seen this in our own training with both Carly and I changing gyms over the past 2-3 months.
-
If your current environment isn’t meeting your demands and facilitating your goals then maybe a change of scenery is what’s needed. That being said, you can’t expect to make progress unless the prerequisite of effort is matched already.

Put yourself in the right situations, apply yourself, the rest should fall into place.

When you feel under a great deal of stress, taking the time to reflect will bring up a very important question, “is this something I should actually be worrying about or dedicating time to?”

It’s similar to the old adage, “if it’s not going to affect you in 5 years, then it’s not worth 5 minutes worrying about.”

This technique of regular reflection can be something worth practising well into the future. It will allow you to keep on top of any stressors that crop up.

All your body cares about is magnitude of stress and frequency i.e. how much stress and how well are you able to de-stress between exposures to stressors.

If you do nothing to reduce stress and let everything add up, you’re going to run into issues.
