I never met Olivia Coia

I do feel like we would have been good friends.

I have gotten to meet many of her friends and family. She surrounded herself with some amazing people, who have also surrounded me and my family . She obviously was a great judge of character .

I was given the opportunity start a 5k a few years back in her honor. We would continue to raise money for the scholarship that was named for her memory, but would also raise money to help support the Cross Country team at Silver Creek as well .

Today we held our annual event and I could not go to sleep without thanking everybody who has helped make this a success . Unfortunately, I was on light duty today as I recovered from surgery this week, but our team definitely stepped up and made this one of the smoothest races I have ever been a race director for.

Thank you to Ray Graf for your leadership, willing to do whatever It takes to make this a success . Thank you to Katie Cross for keeping us on task and getting our wonderful Booster Club Involved . Thank you again to Janet Leigh, who Is Involved with so much to help our community , but still found time to organize yet another wildly successful basket raffle .

Thank you to the coaches and athletes of the Silver Creek/Dunkirk/Forestville Cross Country team, the Chautauqua County and Village of Silver Creek Fire police , the Village of Silver Creek and Silver Creek Central School for all of their help and unwavering support!

Thank you to all of our sponsors , without you this would not happen !

Thank you to the people who participate as an athlete , volunteer and even If you just bought a ticket for the basket raffle. You helped our cause tremendously .

Although I am sure that I am forgetting several people that I should be showing appreciation for, please know that you that I do appreciate all of you.

Lastly though, I want to thank my wife and my kids who always support my crazy Ideas. I am definitely blessed to have them and all of you in my life .

Until next year Silver Creek when we get to do It again !

A portion of the proceeds will fund a scholarship at SCCS in memory of Olivia (Liv) Coia, who was a wonderful teacher, coach, runner & friend. The remaining proceeds will benefit the Silver Creek/Forestville Cross Country team to support team equipment, supplies and team building activities.

The LIV LOVE RUN 5k is on Saturday October 4, 2025.
