The soccer field at the Nike Site in Shelton CT., is home to hundreds of soccer players and fans each year. Every weekends families gather to watch their little ones grow into super stars. Unfortunately, the field has been neglected over the years and the quality of the field has diminished tremendously. It's surrounding area has also been forgotten. What once was a great place to play a game or e
ven be a spectator, has become a hazardous one. There are holes and craters, which expose sprinkler heads and rocks. There are tire tracks and areas without grass. The goals are rusted and the nets are full of holes. The surround area is overgrown to the point where retrieving a ball is almost impossible — without getting tangled in the prickers, or attacked by bees. There are also no bleachers, for the family to sit on while watching the games. Visitors have to sit on the floor or stand if they forget to bring a chair. The soccer field at the Nike Site needs our help. With enough support, from our friends and families we can restore the field to its original beauty for generations to come.
