Tryouts are approaching- THIS SUNDAY APRIL 12th from 330-530 the Bagdad Ruritan Field. Here are some key things for your girl to do for tryouts! 👇🏼
🥎1. Sharpen Your Skills
• Hitting: Practice off a tee, front toss, and live pitching. Focus on contact and form.
• Fielding: Work on grounders, fly balls, footwork, and quick transitions.
• Throwing: Accuracy and strength matter, practice clean throws from various positions.
• Pitchers/Catchers: Pitchers should refine mechanics and hit spots. Catchers should show solid framing, quick throws, and hustle.
🧠 2. Know the Game
• Brush up on softball IQ, rules, positions, base running decisions, and situational awareness.
• Coaches notice heads-up players who communicate and make smart plays.
🗣️ 3. Show Coachability
• Hustle everywhere, on and off the field.
• Make eye contact, listen, ask questions if needed.
• Be positive and encourage others, teams look for good teammates, not just good players.
👕 4. Dress Like a Player
• Wear softball pants, cleats, a tucked-in shirt, and sunglasses, visor or cap.
• Bring all gear (glove, bat, helmet, facemask, water, etc.) in a clean, organized bag.
💤 5. Rest and Fuel Up
• Get a good night’s sleep the night before.
• Eat a healthy meal before tryouts; avoid junk food and stay hydrated.
📣And for parents please stay outside the fence during the tryouts. While your presence is appreciated, please be mindful that we also choose players based on parents attitudes.📣
💪🏼 Last but not least- “Confidence is key.” Believe in your preparation. Smile, stay loose, and give it your best effort. Can’t wait to see you all there! 🩵🥎💜
