O que Mostro X O que Sinto
What I Show vs. What I Feel
Hoje, tenho outra perspectiva.
[EN] This past year, I read a few times the idea that self-care is an act of resistance. I must confess: until now, I’d never fully understood it and it felt difficult to agree with it. My inner judge would point the finger and say: if it is self-centered action, it is not for the good of others and thus it can’t be resistance. I see it a bit differently now.
[EN] On the level of my mind’s opinions and my body’s sensations and emotions, I wish to fully accept myself as an important part of the whole in society. I choose to be and to feel deserving of belonging in my communities. By practicing this radical love toward myself, I am practicing an act of resistance every time I drop in with myself. To me, that is true self-care. In practical terms, self-esteem is being able to honestly take care of myself, with devotion.
