FREE event this Friday: Dancing Past High School 2026

Who: Teen dancers and their caregivers with facilitator Miranda Chantelois and 2026 panelists Lucie Baker, Jennifer Salk, Alana Isiguen, and Sky Scharl

What: Designed to spark honest and informed conversations between high school dancers and their families, attendees can expect a nuanced dialogue between professionals on the countless pathways to success in dance and its value as a gateway to authenticity, critical thinking, innovative practice, and health––no matter the path. This event aims to elucidate dance as an academic and professional pursuit and illuminate the many ways that it can lead to a prosperous career in performance and other fields. eXit SPACE will share information from around the country on current training programs, summer intensities, auditions, and more; answer questions from dancers and their caregivers; and facilitate breakout groups for students to explore their deeper questions with panelists. Panelists include professionals with BA’s, BFA’s, MFA’s, and certificates from professional training programs who have collective experience as performers, choreographers, arts administrators, educators, and more. There will be ample time for individual questions and honest dialogue.

NHSDA clothing sale fundraiser! | Sept 21 – Oct 4

This week, gently used athletic attire and dancewear is for sale at theNEST to fundraise for eXit SPACE’s student-led chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Community members have generously donated used, high quality leotards, athletic tops, leggings, dance shorts, and more so that students can shop sustainably for back-to-dance clothing while supporting this club of amazing young leaders.

Donations for attire purchased at the fundraiser may be made via Venmo (QR code at theNEST) or cash. All proceeds help eXit SPACE keep the NHSDA chapter free for all qualifying students and support the club in remaining financially self-sustaining. Donations go towards: annual NDEO institutional membership fees; student induction fees, certificates, and pins; honor cords and medallions for graduating seniors; materials for service projects; guest artists for community NHSDA workshops; and field trips to view local dance in fulfillment of induction/honors requirements.

Join your toddler for a play-based, brain compatible creative dance class centering expressivity, multi-sensory engagement, and social emotional learning. With your support, dancing toddlers will work towards their motor and spatial-sense milestones while singing, dancing, and storytelling along the way! eXit SPACE Basic Series are 9-week courses intended for adults with little or no dance experience who are interested in learning the fundamentals of Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Burlesque, and/or studio Hip Hop. Join us for a FREE trial class! 🤗

Dancers 5-6yrs old are invited to try a Combo class on us before deciding whether to join for the season. There is still space in three Combo classes on our schedule and we'd love to see you there!

Combo (ages 5 - 6) classes are the perfect bridge from Creative Movement to level 1+ classes, combining creativity and imagination with a greater focus on technical development. Students at this age are introduced to the basic principles of Ballet & Tap (fall) and Modern & Jazz (Winter/Spring) in 30 minute increments, learning the structure and discipline of each form with frequent integration of games, activity songs, and explorations related to specific skills or concepts of space, time, energy, and effort. Dancers become familiar with terminology, practicing center skills before moving through space with locomotor steps. Like Creative Movement classes, Combo classes provide essential tools for children in all areas of their social-emotional development including socialization, balance, coordination, critical thinking, imagination, teamwork, and structured learning; these essential skills and techniques are required to progress to the next levels of dance.

*Dancers enrolling in Combo must meet the minimum age requirement of 5 years old by the beginning of the season, September 1.

Welcome home, Sam! We are so excited to host class with the one and only Sam Picart! Sam has been a part of our eXit SPACE community for over a decade. While on faculty he brought his distinct energy and passion to hundreds of students. His class is a dose of joy!

Sam is back in Seattle to work with thePROGRAM at eXit SPACE and will be teaching an adult program in next week. Come and check it out, one night only.

Take advantage of the unique and exciting opportunity to learn from thePROGRAM alumna and recent CLI Conservatory Program grad, Sky Scharl. Sky has studied under some of the commercial dance industry’s top choreographers and is ecstatic to be back teaching at eXit SPACE where she can smile and dance with familiar and new faces!

Commercial dance describes choreography and technique central to commercial industries such as TV, film, music videos, Broadway, theme parks, cruise lines, circus arts, and more. Commercial forms explored in this 5-day camp include jazz, hip hop, and contemporary; dancers will work on leaping and turning skills, body isolations, shape clarity, tricks, and more, all the while learning how to move through space creatively. This camp is a great opportunity for young dancers who love watching dance on TV and social media to try their hand at those commercial forms they love!

It's that time again! ...Time to enroll in the Basic Series 🤗

Designed for the absolute beginner, Basic Series classes at eXit SPACE are intro courses to Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, or Studio Hip Hop (Burlesque will return in the fall!). Classes meet once a week for one hour at one of our Greenlake locations.

☀️ Summer session runs June 15 – August 16 and enrollment will close for each class after class has met for the second time.
