It's been awhile since I've been on Facebook but I wanted to pop on and share an update on last week's US Pickleball Nationals in Dallas. It was an amazing experience. So thrilled that Jo Gries and I took home the silver in 4.5 50+. Such fabulous competition. Lost our first match but stayed resilient and proceeded to win our next 5 matches to get to the finals. We took them to 3 sets. Oh so close... Finish a little before midnight. So thankful to get to play with my longtime friend Jojo who is an awesome partner! Our hard work paid off!

And I was fortunate to get to play with Ed Sarausad in 4.5 50+ mixed. We only met recently but exceeded all expectations by winning four incredibly tough matches, getting to the pre-medal match and pulling out a fourth place finish in a tough bracket. It was another late night, finishing up close to 11, I think. So thankful to play with such a kind, positive partner - Thank you Ed!

Oh and I played singles too. Ended up winning a few matches to land 5th. I'm actually thrilled with that given that I pretty much didn't practice any singles this year. (Not a recommended strategy) 🤣 I think I'm ready to take singles seriously so I can go for a medal next year 😁

Lastly I want to thank my Smash Pickleball community! So many of my students (who've become amazing friends) worked hard all year and played so well at Nationals. It was such a joy to have such a huge contingent representing Smash and to be able to follow all of them all week. The greatest highlight was probably seeing them all supporting each other. We are a truly a family! I am so lucky ❤️🧡🩵💛

Overall a very fun week seeing so many friends and fellow competitors!

PLEASE TAKE ACTION - This is a very quick ask and very important in order to let Seattle Parks & Rec know that we need more Pickleball courts including covered courts and dedicated courts! And please spread the word!!! We need a HUGE response rate to get our message across! See below....

Great segment on the Washington state pickleball bill on King 5 today, be sure to check it out! So excited for Pickleball to potentially become our official state sport! 😍 P.S. awesome job Chris Egan representing our favorite sport!

The growing sport was invented on Bainbridge Island in 1965.

The PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry) is going to be hosting a certification workshop for Pickleball instructors NEXT SUNDAY at Sprinker Recreation Center in Tacoma, WA. These types of workshops are rarely held in this area, so this is an awesome opportunity if your considering getting certified. I will be participating and would love to see some of you there. Hey y'all! We need your help. The state of WA is putting up a bill to make PB the official sport of WA. It's going to be brought up to senate next week. This is hugely exciting as it would lend great credibility to our sport and really highlight the birthplace of this amazing sport. Just imagine how much easier it might be to get more pickleball courts built in this state if it were the official sport. So please take this ONE EASY ACTION. Please leave a comment today to let them know your support. We need 100s of responses to let lawmakers know there is significant support. It's fast and will make an impact. And please share with others, now is the time!!!

Thank you to all the folks who played at our Smash Pickleball tournament this weekend. And congratulations to all of our medalists! It was such a thrill to watch such great play across all of our 3.5 / 4.0 / 4.5 and 5.0 divisions. Can't wait for our next round of divisions on March 20th! More fun ahead! Thank you Jo Gries and Hannah Renken for all their invaluable support in running the event. Couldn't have done it without you.
