Being a Motocross dad is something else. Something special. We are a different breed! I look at the dads and I see:
A dad that spends every spare minute of every week, prepping bikes and making sure they are ready for the weekend.
A dad that wakes up most weekends at ungodly hours to go racing or even practice.
A dad that is a coach, a mechanic, a sponsor and their biggest supporter.
A dad that spends race day, encouraging his kids to push harder.
A dad that spends the day prepping the bike, refueling, lubing chains, changing jets, sprokets, tires, cleaning air filters, etc.
A dad that gets soaking wet, washing bikes between motos.
Being a Motocross dad is something else.
A dad that prays for their safety every time they strap their boots on.
A dad that runs his butt off, not just for an hour or 2. The entire day, running around the track, making sure to pick them up as quickly as possible. Until they are old enough to do it on their own.
A dad that has to watch them fall, see them get hurt and still encourage them to get back up and carry on until the finish.
A dad that has to encourage them to get back out there in the next heat.
Being a Motocross dad is something else.
A dad that is astonished and astounded at the leaps and bounds they make in progress every time they throw their leg over a bike.
A dad that sees the hurt in their eyes when they realize defeat.
A dad that sees the joy in those same eyes whe they realize their first victory, their first trophy, their first championship.
A dad that would give anything to watch their child compete and succeed....but loves them no matter what!
A dad that bursts with pride every time their children pull a helmet over their ears.
Being a Motocross dad is a full time commitment, but we love it. The time it affords us with our kids, the values and life lessons we are able to pass on through the sport. It's something else!
We Motocross dads are no better than any other sporting dad. Just different, and yeah. Maybe better 😎
