EP 22 Rating Soccer Highlights Until I Find a 10/10

(RM) 8 y/o, EDP East Coast
Score: 5.5/10

She’s an instinctive player with real 1v1 confidence and a lot of upside.

What keeps it at 5.5 right now is simple
The game isn’t clean enough yet, and that’s normal at 8
So the next step is fundamentals
Cleaner ex*****on at speed
Better support angles
Finding space earlier and using it on purpose

Instinct is the spark. Fundamentals turn it into a weapon.

What would you rate it 1–10
Comment RATE + age + position + level.

ELITE 1V1 EX*****ON. ⚽️🔥

Episode 008
Rating highlights until I find a 10 out of 10.

The Score: 9.2/10
William Garcia is putting on a clinic here. For a U12/U13 player, this is exactly the kind of "Development Proof" we look for at Fidbak.

The Fidbak Reality Check:
Why is this a 9.2?
✅ The Setup: His first touch sets the angle perfectly.
✅ The Pace: He doesn't just dribble; he attacks the space with intent.
✅ The Composure: He keeps his head up to find the finish.

The Road to a 10:
At the next level, that shot being slightly central gives the keeper a chance to make a save. To make this a 10, that finish needs to be tucked into the side netting with clear separation.

What do you think?
👇 Is a 9.2 fair for this age group, or does the quality of the move deserve a perfect 10?

EP 01: Players

If you only watch the ball, you’re missing your child’s development.

Checklist:
1. Scanning
2. Body shape
3. First touch

Most players run away from pressure.

Frenkie De Jong runs into it. 🧠⚽️

That is what makes this so good.

Most young players feel a defender on their back and panic.
They rush.
They force the touch.
They lose the ball.

De Jong does the opposite.

He stays calm, protects the ball, shifts the defender with the fake, and then attacks the gap he just created.

This is not just a stepover.

This is using pressure as leverage.

That is the real lesson.

A lot of players are taught to find open space.

At the top level, open space usually is not just sitting there waiting for you.

You have to create it.

That is exactly what happens here.

The setup shown at the end of this clip is a directional training pattern we use with players to help them:

• stay calm under pressure
• protect the ball with their body
• move the defender with the fake
• recognize the moment they bite
• and explode into the space they create

So the real question is not:

Can they do the move?

It is:

Can they use pressure to manipulate the defender and create space?

What do you think is harder for young players:
staying calm under pressure, or recognizing the moment to explode?

WHY THE "FIRST ACTION" ISN'T ENOUGH. ⚽️🧠

Episode 07
Rating highlights until I find a 10 out of 10.

The Score: 6.5/10
Cooper clearly has quality. His crosses are clean, his shots are on frame, and he gets his assists. So why only a 6.5?

The Fidbak Reality Check:
At the elite level, I am not just grading the pass — I am grading what happens AFTER the pass.

Most players switch off once the ball leaves their foot. Elite players win the "Second Moment." They are already scanning for the next picture before the ball even arrives. In this clip, the transition between the first skill and the next decision is too slow for a top-tier academy or pro environment.

The Grading Scale:
1️⃣ First action quality
2️⃣ Second action ball movement
3️⃣ Scanning before the ball arrives
4️⃣ Decision speed under pressure

What do you think?
👇 Is a 6.5 too harsh for a player with this much technical skill, or do you agree that "Game IQ" is the missing piece?

I missed my chance. - This is Matthew’s story.

A player who worked hard… but didn’t have direction.

He stayed after sessions
Did extra reps
Loved the game

But he didn’t know if he was actually improving

And that’s the reality for most players.

They are busy
but not progressing

Because they don’t have:
• clear feedback
• a development plan
• visibility into their growth

That’s why we built Fidbak.

So players and parents can actually see:
what’s working
what’s not
and what needs to improve next

ELITE SKILL VS. PRO DENSITY. ⚽️🌪️

Episode 06
Rating highlights until I find a 10 out of 10.

The Score: 8.7/10
This High School player has serious "Hardware." The first touch is elite, the Roulette is clean, and the finish is composed.

The Fidbak Reality Check:
Why isn't it a 10? It comes down to the environment. In this clip, he takes on three defenders and finishes comfortably. But at the Academy or Pro level, defenders are much sharper. They don't just watch the move; they anticipate the exit and compress the space.

At the next level, you won't get through three players that easily. To reach a 10, the play needs to be executed against a defense that is actually organized and punishing.

What do you think?
👇 Do we give too much credit for "dribbling through crowds" in youth soccer when the defense is unorganized?

THE ART OF THE PRESSURE TRAP 🧠⚽️

Most youth players are taught tricks but very few are taught mechanics. Most players see this as a simple pullback move but Busquets used it as a deliberate pressure trap.

If you study his game closely the secret is not the move itself. It is how he makes the defender believe the ball is actually available. Busquets was never the fastest player on the pitch but he was always the smartest and the hardest to press.

Why it works:
He does not wait for pressure. He invites it. He sells the space with his body shape to suggest one direction while "showing" the ball to the defender. The moment the defender commits to the ball the play is already over because the space they just left is exactly where Busquets is exiting.

The Fidbak Breakdown:
We use a specific directional training setup shown at the end of this clip to help players:

1. Sell space with their body shape
2. Tempt the defender to step in
3. Recognize the exact moment the pressure commits
4.Stay calm in tight spaces

The real question for coaches is this: Are you teaching your players how to do a move or are you teaching them how to create the reason for the move to work?

👇 COACHES AND PARENTS:
Do you think "Instinct" like this can be taught or is it something players have to be born with? Let me know your take in the comments.

GOLAZO... OR BAD DEFENDING? ⚽️🚀

Episode 05.
Rating highlights until I find a 10 out of 10.

The Score: 8.5/10
Let’s give credit where it’s due — the finish is clinical and the attacker does exactly what he’s supposed to do. But why isn't it a 10?

The Fidbak Reality Check:
Look at the defender. He slides toward the end line when there is no shooting angle, basically opening the door. At the next level (Academy/Pro), defenders don't bite on that. They force you down the line onto your weak foot and close the window.

It’s a great goal for this level, but we train for the next level.

What do you think?
👇 Is an 8.5 fair, or does the quality of the strike deserve a 9? Let’s hear from the Sunday League legends and the Pro coaches in the comments!

Should Van Dijk have gotten a red card? 🟥👀 The lesson every attacker needs.

Most people are arguing about whether Van Dijk should have been sent off for this hit on Mbappe. But as a coach, I’m looking at something different: Self-Protection.

The Fidbak Reality Check:
When you’re an elite dribbler, you are a target. If you only focus on the ball and the open space, you’re going to get caught by a "train" like Van Dijk.

The Lesson:
1️⃣ Anticipate the Contact: You have to scan the defender’s path, not just their feet.
2️⃣ Brace for Impact: If you see the defender "committing" to the collision, you have to adjust your body weight to protect your standing leg.
3️⃣ Read the Speed: Dribbling isn't just about beating the player; it's about reading how fast the pressure is arriving so you don't get hung out to dry.

Technical skills get you through the defense, but Tactical Awareness keeps you on the pitch.

What’s your take?
👇 Was this a RED CARD tackle, or is this just part of the game that attackers have to prepare for?
