Skating Coach Wanted: Hiawatha Skating Club in Sault Ste. Marie, MI is currently accepting applications for a figure skating coach. We are a well-established skating club with approximately 80 skaters. We offer a Learn to Skate program and a US Figure Skating program. We are looking for someone who shows enthusiasm, communicates effectively, and maintains working relationships with other coaches, parents, the Board of Directors, and the Learn to Skate Coordinator.
Our Winter season begins October 2026, and ends March 2027. Club sessions are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday late afternoon to early evening, and Saturday morning. Learn to Skate sessions are on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The Spring/Summer session generally is in May and June.
This coach would assist with the Annual Silver Blades R***e, Christmas Gala, and evaluate skaters at Learn to Skate Test Sessions.
Minimum qualifications: Must be 18 years old, a high school graduate or have a GED, passed Pre-Bronze Singles and Bronze Skating Skills.
Learn to Skate USA Instructors must have Learn to Skate USA Membership, Instructor Certification, pass a Background Check, complete SafeSport Training, sign waivers and carry Coach Liability Insurance if teaching private lessons. Full Member coaches require a U.S. Figure Skating Membership, complete Core Coach Certification (one time), Coach I.C.E. Membership, complete USFS Coaching Standards of Professionalism, pass a Background Check, complete SafeSport Training, have Current Liability Insurance, and sign waivers.
