The culprit in the clouds. This big ol moon combined with high winds coming onshore are creating huge king tides. The landscape here is being changed both on the beach and just offshore. One of the most fun challenges of fishing these waters is constantly having to adapt, and really know how to read the surf.

Short afternoon session yesterday at PSFB from 3 to 6. Right now from all the big surf, the area has a deep trough right at shore, a bar only ankle deep about 20yds out, and then drops off. Not an active bite but managed a couple nice ones among a bunch of small whiting. Lots of bait fish trapped in the shoreline trough but it didnt produce anything. These two came from walking out to the bar and launching it.

I was able to get out for a day finally this weekend! Lord knows the mind and body needed it. Being a Pediatrician is rough this time of year. Had to manage some light to moderate seaweed, but 4oz pyramids were fine. Slow bite. But some decent catches when they happened. Amanda Bernethy Squatch pomp rigs always produce in in a challenging setting. Lost a really nice shark in the breakers after a 30min fight. I appreciated the collective, Awwwww, from the beach crowd.

Being an E Tenneseean, we all loved Dolly. Its just a part of you when you grow up there. Ill share my story in her honor. Because I was fortunate enough to actually get to know her for a time.
She worked on a project with my mother when I was a young man. Expanding the library at Carson Newman College(now Univ). I got to meet her and was always around during meetings and dinners n such. She was so damn kind to me. Never left me out. Wanted to know everything about what I wanted to be and do when I grew up. Insisted I call her Aunt Dolly, and she better get a hug any time she saw me. And that woman gave awesome hugs. She would always ask about me when she spoke to my mom, all the way through HS and beyond. Even helped me with scholarships for school. I genuinely cried today. Right in front of my coworkers and Drs.Dont care. We've lost a genuine treasure, and Im grateful for how she touched my life.

Happy Birthday to the man responsible for raising me to be the good person I try to be every day, taught me just about everything I know of value, and is solely responsible for my love of everything outdoorsman and fishing. My Father. The one and only Chuck Watson. He would have been 90 today.
He's watched over me the last 9 years from above and always been there when Ive poured a little of his favorite b**r on the sand and said "help me out, here, Daddy"
