โAs entrepreneurs, our life had just taken a turn for the worse when our businesses failed and our family and our finances were
thrown into chaos and turmoil. Our home was filled with stress, shame and silence. It felt as if the world was closing in on us. It felt like our friends and family were shutting us out. Our marriage was suffering. Our
children were suffering. We couldn't run from it or hide it anymore.
It was in our darkest moment that my husband and I made a courageous decision; A decision that went against everything we had been taught, everything we had known. We decided to have one
courageous conversation with our 6-year-old daughter about money.
Then we did it again. And again. One talk at a time, we were building resiliency through
breaking the taboo. These courageous conversations were becoming the cornerstone of our own healing.
She led us through it, without judgment, without hesitation, without fear of consequence. Because she knew no different. She didnโt yet have the relational
trauma with money that we had, that so many adults have. We were determined to keep it that way, learning from her and through her.
Since then, Iโve seen what can be achieved when kids and adults learn to talk about money openly and honestly with their heads and their hearts. Iโve learned that it is never too early to be rich in financial education.โ
โBuilding Resiliency: Courageous Conversations About Money,โ presented by Stacey Muhs
๐ Empower - A Conference for Women June 2022 Speaker Announcement Stacey Muhs ๐
Toronto resident Stacey Muhs is a serial entrepreneur that has built and sold five 7-figure businesses in 12 years, has endured two epic failures in the last four years and is currently the founder and partner of three
start-ups. Stacey has done it all while staying blissfully married, raising 2 young children and journeying through her own messy self-discovery.
Stacey's entrepreneurial experience spanned 10 years in the early childhood education industry as she and her husband owned multiple child care centres in
Ontario. Stacey used her years of first-hand
experience to author a series of 15 childrenโs books focused on everything from well-being and nutrition to toilet training and sleep habits.
Her entrepreneurial spirit then led her to real estate development and investment and a passion that has developed into five companies over the last seven years, including two of her current start-ups.
In 2017, with her companies running smoothly, Stacey went in search of her next entrepreneurial adventure. What she bought into was a company that would
hobble her successful empire, break her confidence, scar her trust and ultimately question her sense of self. Two businesses failed in three years, a loss of more
than three-quarters of a million dollars and more painful than that... a loss of her identity.
Despite her previous successes, Stacey focused on the failure. She allowed it to define her and control her. Financial turmoil and ego-focused emotions tore her
apart. Stacey knew if she was ever going to keep her marriage together and raise resilient children, she was going to have to dig deep into her own soul, do the work and rise from the fall.
And rise she did! Spiritually she practiced.
Energetically she did the work. Emotionally she healed.
Stacey is now the Founder of Savvy Kids World - a holistic financial literacy program for children that combines education, emotion and expression. Stacey
helps parents talk to their kids about money openly, honestly and confidently. She teaches children to learnabout money with their head and their heart. It's the
financial education parents wish they had growing up.
Today, Stacey is currently the greatest version of herself and is positively focused on doing the work, on herself and her businesses.
