We made them wearable again. This client came to us with these beautiful heirloom@diamond and Emerald earrings she wanted to wear for an upcoming celebration. The problem was that the weight of the piece created an unflattering look on her ears. We solved this by changing the backs: double posts positioned at precisely the distance between her two piercing locations so they fit perfectly and were well-supported. jewelryredesign

Gold and Emeralds. Joann’s redesign project began (and continues) with gold and beautiful Colombian Emeralds. Dated rings and pendants stowed away until she reached out to me. Project 1 of 4 is this insanely beautiful stone set in an updated, soft bezel.

My grandmother threw pots and cut block prints, taught school, and never once walked past a beach without coming home with her pockets full.

Sea glass, mostly. Broken bottles somebody threw away. She’d line them up on the windowsill like they were emeralds and tell me it’s the same thing she did at the kiln — sand, heat, time, and something you couldn’t have imagined at the start.

I think about that every time someone hands me a ring in a ziplock bag.

That’s the whole business, really. I just added gold.
