If your baby wakes up at night, the first thing to adjust is… YOUR RESPONSE

We all do our best. But some reflexes, even well-intentioned, can actually prolong the wake-up without us realizing it.

Here’s what to avoid :

❌ Picking them up immediately
Many babies can fall back asleep on their own if given a few seconds. Intervening too quickly often wakes them up fully.

❌ Turning on a bright light
Light tells the brain "it’s morning." Falling back asleep becomes much harder.

❌ Feeding at every wake-up
This creates a feed-to-sleep association. Your baby may start needing it even without real hunger.

❌ Talking, playing, or changing the diaper unnecessarily
The environment should stay calm, dark, and identical to bedtime.

❌ Trying multiple soothing methods in the same wake-up
This overstimulates your baby and can turn a brief wake-up into a long one.

✅ Golden rule : slow down, stay calm, keep it dark, and choose ONE method.
Consistency is what improves sleep long-term 🌙

ONE thing changed our evenings: more movement and sunlight before bedtime ☀️

And it’s not luck — it’s biology.

Exposure to natural light + physical activity during the day is a double boost for sleep:
→ Sunlight sets the internal clock (circadian rhythm) and signals to the brain "it’s daytime"
→ In the evening, the body naturally shifts and produces more melatonin — the sleep hormone
→ Result: babies and children fall asleep more easily, with less resistance at bedtime

So with the sunny days coming — make the most of it! Afternoon outings, scooter rides, the park… it all matters 🌞

Mom + sleep specialist — here are the 3 beliefs I let go of ✨

1️⃣ Darkness isn’t necessary
→ Yes, it is. Darkness triggers melatonin production : faster sleep onset, longer sleep, better quality. And from 6–8 weeks, babies can already tell day from night — darkness during the day won’t confuse them.

2️⃣ They’ll fall asleep when they’re tired
→ Sleep cues often come too late. Some babies don’t show them, others go straight to overtiredness. After 4 months : focus on timing, not signals.

3️⃣ You have to respond to every cry immediately
→ Not all cries require intervention. Learning to read them is key.

The solution is not in a bedtime routine, a heavier evening meal, or stopping breastfeeding :

95% of sleep issues come from overtiredness

👉 an overtired baby/child produces cortisol (the stress hormone)
👉 which prevents deep sleep
👉 and causes repeated wake-ups

The result :
❌ fragmented nights
❌ short or nonexistent naps
❌ a child who fights sleep

And most importantly…
👉 the more tired they are, the less they sleep

Welcome to the vicious cycle.

But it’s not inevitable.

👉 When you understand how your child’s sleep actually works
👉 and you adjust at the RIGHT time

everything can change very quickly.

🎁 To help you get clarity, I created a 0–3 year sleep timeline

😵‍💫 It’s not "just a phase."

Waking up every 2 hours…
for weeks… even months…

👉 yes, it’s exhausting
👉 yes, it’s mentally draining
👉 and no, it’s not inevitable

Because in most cases,
this kind of night is linked to :

👉 overtiredness
👉 and/or sleep associations

The result ?

Your baby :
❌ can’t connect sleep cycles on their own
❌ wakes up between each cycle
❌ needs you… over and over again

And the longer it goes on…
the more the vicious cycle sets in.

But here’s the good news :
👉 there are real solutions

As long as you understand:
✔️ how your child’s sleep actually works
✔️ where it’s getting stuck
✔️ and what to put in place (at the right time)

🎁 To help you, I created a 0–3 year sleep timeline
so you can clearly see what’s normal… and what’s not

A bad nap… and you’re stressed.
A bad night… and you’re even more stressed.

You’re already anticipating the worst.
You go to bed with a knot in your stomach thinking :
"How many times is he going to wake up tonight…"

And sometimes…
even when he’s sleeping,
you can’t switch off anymore.

Because you know it can start again at any moment.

👉 Sleep takes over everything.
👉 It keeps looping in your head.
👉 It becomes an obsession.

And no, it’s not "just in your head."
It’s simply that you don’t have the right keys to understand what’s going on.

Because when you understand :
👉 you stop guessing
👉 you know what to adjust
👉 and most importantly… you can finally breathe again

That’s exactly why I created a 0–3 year sleep timeline.

To help you understand what’s normal, what’s not, and most importantly what to do, concretely.

Misconceptions about baby sleep…
I’ve got a LONG list 🙃

👉 "Let them sleep in noise, they’ll get used to it"
👉 "You need to tire them out so they sleep better"
👉 "If they wake up, it means they’re hungry"
👉 "It’s normal, it’ll pass"
👉 "If they’re not sleeping, it means they’re not tired"

The problem ?

👉 Some of these "tips" actually maintain sleep issues
👉 or even make them worse without you realizing

So you end up trying everything…
without ever really getting out of it.

Because in reality,
baby sleep follows very specific rules.

And until you understand them,
it’s easy to get lost in all the conflicting advice.

👉 If you want to start over with clear, simple, reliable foundations :

I created a 0–3 year sleep timeline to help you understand what’s normal, what’s not, and most importantly how to adjust in a practical way.

😵‍💫 Is your baby exhausted… but won’t sleep ?

And the more tired they are…
👉 the harder it is for them to sleep.

That’s overtiredness.

When a baby is too tired, their body produces cortisol (the stress hormone)
➡️ which acts like a shot of adrenaline
➡️ and literally prevents deep, restorative sleep

The result :
• night wakings
• very short naps
• 5 a.m. wake-ups
• a baby who fights sleep

👉 And that’s where the vicious cycle begins :

The less they sleep → the more tired they get → the more cortisol they produce → the less they sleep…

And you can stay stuck in this for weeks 😵‍💫

But that’s NOT the only vicious cycle.

There’s a second one, just as powerful:
👉 assisted sleep (sleep associations)

And in 90% of cases… the two are linked.

🎁 That’s why I created a free brochure with:
✔️ both vicious cycles explained simply
✔️ the first practical tips to break out of them

If your baby is over 4 months old, there’s something really important to understand :

👉 Wake windows are no longer enough.
And they can even make you miss your baby’s real needs.

Because from this age,
sleep mainly works around restorative sleep windows.

👉 Specific moments in the day
when the body is naturally ready to fall into deep sleep.

And that changes everything.

Because if you keep relying only on wake windows :
❌ you might shift naps too late
❌ reinforce overtiredness
❌ and make nights harder without realizing it

But when you understand restorative sleep windows :
✔️ naps become more effective
✔️ bedtimes become smoother
✔️ and nights become much more stable

👉 This is a foundational concept. Really.

And it’s exactly what I explain in my guide
"6 Steps to Peaceful Sleep" :
an affordable guide with all the essential basics to understand and take action.

5 a.m. Every. Single. Morning.

Not 5:30.
Not "once in a while."
👉 5 a.m. Sharp.

And Little Boy…
wide awake, like he just slept 12 hours.
Ready to start the day.
(Spoiler: I wasn’t.)

I remember sitting in the living room, in the dark,
holding him in my arms…
trying to understand.

👉 Why is he waking up so early?
👉 Why won’t he go back to sleep?
👉 What am I doing wrong?

And most of all…
why is no one actually explaining this?

So I tried everything.

Later bedtime.
Earlier bedtime.
Adjusting naps.
"Let him be."
"Go to him."

👉 Nothing changed.

Because in reality,
5 a.m. wake-ups are not random.

There are very specific reasons behind them:
👉 overtiredness
👉 poor sleep timing
👉 difficulty connecting sleep cycles

But as long as you don’t understand that…
you can go in circles for a long time. A very long time.

I lost a lot of energy there.

So if you’re going through this right now, know this:
❌ it’s not inevitable
❌ and no, you’re not stuck waking up at 5 a.m. for months
