Cahan Racing Team

Cahan Racing Team Gabriel and Ayrton Cahan, brothers from Santa Fe, NM. Our ultimate goal is to become paid, professional racing drivers.

We are currently progressing through the Road to Indy development ladder, fully committed to turning our dream into reality. We are Gabriel and Ayrton Cahan, teenage brothers from Santa Fe, New Mexico, fueled by ambition and a deep passion for motorsports. From a young age, racing has been in our blood. The spark was first ignited as we watched our dad compete in Spec Miata events. Whether we were

mimicking engine sounds, racing Hot Wheels, tinkering with our battery-operated Lightning McQueen, or learning the mechanics of real cars, we immersed ourselves in every aspect of motorsports. Over the years, this hands-on experience has given us valuable knowledge that continues to be an asset as we grow in the sport. We are hardworking young men who have served as mentors to fellow racers, and we remain committed to exploring where our passion can take us. Behind the wheel, our tenacity, focus, composure, and maturity speak for themselves. Our journey began at ages 4 and 6 with the New Mexico Karting Association (NMKA), racing in tag karts and eventually moving up to shifter karts. We’ve each earned our share of wins and season championships. Even when faced with mechanical setbacks, we pushed through, often fighting our way from the back of the pack to finish in first or second place. After school, we would head to our father’s automotive shop to work on our karts. Gaining technical knowledge of the machines we drive has elevated our performance and deepened our competitive edge—pun intended. When not turning wrenches, we could usually be found behind our racing simulator, putting in as much practice as possible. In the fall of 2022, we upgraded our karts to compete at a higher level and entered our first national event: the Challenge of the Americas in Tucson, AZ. That race marked the beginning of a new chapter in our racing journey. Our goal for 2023 was to finish in the top three of the Colorado Karting Tour points standings and to continue competing in the Challenge of the Americas series—and we achieved exactly that. In 2024, we shifted gears into Formula Cars, marking a significant milestone in our racing journey. We competed in the Formula Race Promotions (FRP) series and the SCCA Hoosier Super Tour. Gabriel raced in the F2000 category, earning 2nd and 3rd place podium finishes in SCCA competition and ultimately clinching the FRP Season Championship. Ayrton made a strong debut in F1600, securing a 1st and 2nd place finish at the Buttonwillow round of the SCCA Hoosier Super Tour. He continued to rise through the highly competitive F1600 field in FRP, gaining valuable experience throughout the season. The year concluded on a high note, with both drivers setting track records at the legendary Sonoma Raceway.

Looking ahead, 2025 will be another pivotal year focused on driver development. We will return to the FRP Series, both competing in F1600, with Ayrton aiming for the championship title. Our focus this season is on refining race craft and continuing to elevate our performance. To that end, Gabriel and Ayrton will take on double-duty in the series by driving USF2000 cars with Exclusive Autosport. This year is all about preparation—building the competitive edge needed to thrive in a field full of elite talent as we progress on our journey through the Road to Indy.

LOR recap

Racing at the LOR oval was an intense and exhilarating experience. We far exceeded our expectations in how we handled this challenge. The team provided us with incredible cars and support throughout the weekend. A strong qualifying session led to a 2nd-place podium finish for Gabriel. His first in ISF competition. While Ayrton battled hard through the middle of the pack and put together a solid performance.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience and an amazing weekend. Although Ayrton was unable to attend his high school graduation, we were able to celebrate his accomplishment at the track. We’re incredibly proud and already looking forward to the next stop: Road America. Thanks to our engineer , and our spotters and

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to race at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The weekend brought many positive and exciting moments, along with a few unfortunate setbacks. Overall, we’re very pleased with how our rookie season has progressed so far and have a clear understanding of what we need to focus on moving forward. We are also deeply grateful to the entire crew, our driver coaches, and track mom Alycia for all of their hard work, dedication, and unwavering support throughout the weekend. None of this would be possible without the incredible people behind the scenes helping us every step of the way. Can’t wait to tackle our first oval race next week.
