When you first start out as a trainer, you think it’s about you.
Am I in good enough shape? Do I look the part? Do I know enough, have I read enough, am I qualified enough to be up here coaching? And forget ever letting clients know I have days I don’t want to workout or don’t feel motivated.
Then one day you realize — it was never about you at all. It’s about them.
They’re my why. I’m as inspired by them as they are by me, our clients who look to me to realize their own potential. Seeing them pull through and step up to accomplish more than they ever imagined is what drives me.
That’s the job. Show up. Let them see the work. Let them see the parts that aren’t pretty too (there’s a reason I’m including the floor pics).
This version of me rebuilds because they’re watching. And I’m racing again next week to try to beat this time. Comeback’s around the corner to inspire them.
Every next level of your life will require a different version of you. Who are you showing up for? Who’s watching?
If you’re a trainer or coach reading this and you still think it’s about how good of shape you’re in or how many certifications you have, it’s not.
It’s about how you show up to be an example for your clients, especially on the days it’s hard.
