Coastal Riptide is a youth training organization offering travel and developmental teams for players 9U - 18U, baseball and softball lessons, preseason clinics, summer camps, and player-focused skill development. Since 2017, Coastal Riptide Director of Operations Jana Doughty, Head Coach Chuck Chadbourne, and the rest of our experienced team have inspired kids to swing for the fences at our intera

ctive baseball training sessions, fun summer camps, and individual/group lessons. Our state-of-the-art facility offers plenty of space for you to practice the basics or develop position-specific skills for pitching, batting, and catching. Another weekend is in the books, and the standings are starting to take shape! We had statement wins, tight games, big offensive weekends, and plenty of movement across all four divisions. Here’s your Week 2 recap!

⚾ 10U
Coach Baron (Gold) swept the weekend with two big wins, vaulting themselves into 1st place at 3-1. Coach Borrelli (Pink) picked up their first win of the season in a wild one, edging Coach Honigfeld (Teal), 14-13.

Big news coming out of the 10U division: the Western Maine Mountaineers are joining the league next week! Their addition gives us another team in the division and means we’ll move to two doubleheaders each week instead of the round-robin format.

The new kids on the block get thrown right into the fire, taking on the top dog in a doubleheader at 9:00 & 11:30 AM on the Minors Field at Tilcon.

It’s tight at the top in the 12U division! Coach Stefanilo (Pink) remains perfect at 4-0, holding a one-game lead over both The Wild (3-1) and Ouellette (3-1).

Stefanilo’s offense was on another level this weekend, launching five home runs on the way to a weekend sweep. Meanwhile, The Wild exploded for 37 runs across their two games, picking up a pair of huge wins.

Ouellette gets their first shot at the top spot this weekend after playing much closer than the final score indicated against The Wild. Coach Foor will be looking to avenge an earlier loss to The Wild, while Coach Christie faces two of the league’s top teams with a chance to make a statement.

Coach Bourque (Teal) continues to roll, opening the season 4-0 after another pair of big wins. Bourque’s squad has now scored 20+ runs in back-to-back weekends and sits alone atop the division.

Black Bear Elite took a step back, dropping both games in tough fashion and evening their record at 2-2. Coach Shumway (Gold) came through with a pair of statement victories, jumping into 2nd place, just one game behind Bourque.

Coach Spalding (Pink) picked up their first win of the season in a nail-biter against BBE, while Coach Donaldson (Red/White/Blue) continues to grind out games and compete at a high level. This weekend, Donaldson gets a shot at making a statement against the undefeated Bourque squad.

The biggest and tightest division in the league just got even more interesting.

Four of the six teams are now within one game of the lead, with Hordon, GSM, Russell, and Westbrook all sitting with winning records or right on the doorstep. After Week 2, any of those four teams could find themselves sitting atop the division after this weekend.

GSM and Russell played the closest games of the weekend, with both contests decided by two runs or fewer and the teams splitting the series.

Hordon suffered their first loss of the season, while Westbrook came away with a weekend sweep. With the standings this tight, every game is starting to carry some serious weight.

It started with an idea.

When we started Coastal Riptide in 2017, we believed youth baseball needed to be about more than winning games and collecting trophies.

We wanted to build a program centered on two things that mattered to us from the very beginning: focus on developing the fundamentals of the game and developing the player as a person.

Teach the game the right way. Give players the coaching, training and opportunities they need to improve. Challenge them. Hold them accountable. Teach them how to compete, how to be a teammate and how to handle both success and failure.

And hopefully, along the way, help them develop qualities that would matter long after they stopped playing baseball.

When this newspaper article was written in June 2017, Coastal Riptide hadn’t even played its first season yet. We didn’t know what Riptide would eventually become.
We just knew what we wanted it to stand for.

Almost 10 years later, that part hasn’t changed.
This is where our story began.

⚾ HOW IT WORKS

Players will be divided into two teams of 9 and will battle it out across three games. Each game will give the players another opportunity to compete, make plays, and have fun with their teammates!

To help keep the games moving and ensure we are able to get all three games in, we will be using a pitching machine. This will keep the pace of play moving and allow us to maximize our time on the field.

WHAT PLAYERS NEED TO KNOW

All players will receive a Battle of the Holidays team T-shirt before the games begin. Players will wear their team shirt during the games, so please make sure your player arrives on time to check in, receive their shirt, and have plenty of time to warm up before the first game.

👟 FOOTWEAR REQUIREMENT

🚨 NO CLEATS ARE ALLOWED IN THE DOME!

Players must wear:

✅ Turf shoes
✅ Sneakers
Please make sure your player arrives in the proper footwear. Cleats will not be permitted on the field.

💧 WHAT TO BRING

Players should bring:

💧 Plenty of water
🍎 A small snack, if they think they may need one
👟 Turf shoes or sneakers
⚾ Their usual baseball gear
Most importantly, come ready to play, compete, have fun, and bring the holiday spirit!

Honigfeld’s Teal squad came out swinging, going 2-0 in a pair of nail-biters, including a 13-12 win over Baron’s Gold and a 17-14 win over Borrelli’s Pink. Baron answered back with a 15-11 win over Borrelli. No shortage of offense in 10U!

12U — Two Teams Perfect!

Ouellette’s Red/White/Blue and Stefanilo’s Pink both opened the season 2-0, setting the early pace. The Wild split the week at 1-1, while Foor’s Teal and Christie’s Gold are looking to make their move in Week 2.
