Assistance for Individuals Approved
President Approves State Disaster Declaration

President Barack Obama has approved a disaster declaration requested by Gov. Greg Abbott for counties affected by last month’s flooding, opening the door for individual federal assistance.

Gov. Abbott requested Individual Assistance for Bastrop, Brazoria, Caldwell, Comal, Galveston, Guadalupe, Hardin, Harris, Hays, Hidalgo, Liberty, Navarro, Travis, Willacy, and Wilson Counties. The President also granted disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Survivors from the October severe weather in Hays County can start registering for FEMA Assistance by calling 1.800.621.3362 or online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov. FEMA inspectors will begin making appointments with residents who apply for assistance.
