Another year has been and gone in a whirlwind of toddlerhood, retreats, teaching and doing my best to juggle the various aspects of being a mom, a wife and a business owner. I also decided to take a break from social media.
Stepping back from Instagram over the past 2 years has allowed me more time to be present with my kiddo and pour energy into my online yoga platform and in-person retreats. It was also a business experiment to see just how important social media is for business success.
What I’ve learned is that the best thing you can do for your business (and in life!) is to foster and build on the connections you already have through real human interactions.
99% of my retreat guests are repeat bookings who then bring their friends and family. We have formed an incredibly close community which feels like a second family. More than 100 retreats in 13 years and many of you have been with me from the start. There have been so many lifelong friendships formed. Some of you have met your now spouses on our retreats, gotten engaged, gotten pregnant 🥰 and travelled all over the world together independently - it’s truly awesome! 💕
Like many of us I was sold the notion that Instagram was vital for the success of my business. Before motherhood I spent hours creating content, curating the perfect images and captions and stressing about engagement and follower count. When I became a Mom, so much changed, including my mental health. Postpartum depression nearly crippled me and I knew something just had to give… social media was the first thing to go.
