Involved with professional boxing for more than thirty years, Bobby DePhilippis, along with his late father Roberto, are undoubtedly the pioneers of promoting the sport in “America’s Finest City”. After his father taught him the ropes while managing former heavyweight champion Ken Norton in the mid-seventies, Bobby took the reins in the early ‘80s and found success by presenting live boxing every
month at the famed downtown venue El Cortez Hotel. Presenting a fight card every month without fail, DePhilippis garnered fame for entertaining well-matched bouts which rivaled any across the state including the then famous Olympic Auditorium fight cards in Los Angeles. Former world champions Raul “Jibaro” Perez, Manuel “Mantecas” Medina, Jesus Salud, Jose “Gallo” Quirino and “Terrible” Terry Norris all fought at the El Cortez as well as local favorites Orlin Norris, the late Tony “Bazooka” DeLuca, James Kinchen and Freddie Roach among others. More recently, Bobby has featured world ranked Christopher “SD Kid” Martin, former title challenger Mercito Gesta, former world champion Cruz “Cucho” Carvajal, current world champion Danny Garcia and up and coming contender Gary Russell Jr. Presents is one of the few promoters to work seamlessly with the biggest companies in the business including Golden Boy Promotions, Don King Productions, Top Rank, Dibella Entertainment, Cedric Kushner, Don Chargin Productions, Forum Boxing, Goosen-Tutor, Banner Promotions and “Tuto” Zabala on some of the biggest airwaves to broadcast boxing such as HBO, ESPN, ESPN Deportes, Fox Sports Net, Telefutura, Telemundo and TV Azteca. In 2012 Bobby DePhilippis had the honor to be inducted to the California state boxing hall of fame for his undying passion for the sport and his support of its fighters. Now in his third decade as the most consistent boxing promoter in southern California, Bobby is excited with the new crop of fighters making their way up the ranks as well as making sure he always presents "Boxing at its Best".
