Early this morning, the Federation of Gay Games contacted us with the unwelcomed and unexpected news that San Diego was not selected as one of the three cities moving forward for consideration to host the 2026 Gay Games.
While we know the remarkable people in San Diego's LGBTQ+ community and so many community leaders, supporters and friends would have helped us produce an exceptional world-class event, the decision has been made and we have to move on. The cities still vying to be named the host city are Munich, Valencia and Guadalajara. We wish them all luck in the coming months as they continue on with their bids.
On behalf of the Gay Games San Diego 2026 Task Force we wish to express our most sincere appreciation and gratitude to each and every committee member, volunteer, generous donor and adviser for helping us get to this point. We shared a journey that brought together a great and diverse group of people who worked together and truly raised our perceptions and beliefs about who we are and what we stand for. This will be the legacy of our effort.
With our thanks and love,
