Accept the puck vs. overreacting to the puck 🧠💪

When the puck is farther away, we have more time to see it, track it, and make the correct save selection. 👀

Don’t let the distance from the puck cause you to overreact. Use the time and space to your advantage.

➡️ Track first. React second.
➡️ Stay balanced in your stance.
➡️ Let the puck come to you instead of chasing it.

Overreacting can take us out of position, put us off balance, and ultimately create goals against. 💯

Calm eyes. Strong stance. Smart saves. 🥅🔥

GOALTENDING IS ALL ABOUT DECISION MAKING. 🧠💪

Knowing when to stay on your feet, when to release into RVH, and when to recover back to your feet can be the difference between controlling the play and reacting to it. 🥅🔥

🦶 STAY ON YOUR FEET
• Puck is in the far corner
• Player isn’t a threat to wrap the puck or attack the net
• Staying up maximizes your speed, size, and ability to move into the next shot

🔻 RELEASE INTO RVH
• Player becomes an immediate scoring threat
• Shot
• Wrap-around
• In-tight pass
• Any situation where the puck can quickly attack the net

The goal isn’t to get into RVH as fast as possible — it’s knowing WHEN you need it. 💯

Read the play. Control your movement. Make the right decision. 🧠🥅

Any team would be lucky to have a goaltender willing to put his body on the line for his teammates. That compete level, courage, and commitment are what make great goalies. 🔥🏒

BUT… be smart, goaltenders. 🧠

There’s a fine line between making a brave save and putting yourself in an unnecessary dangerous position. Your job is to battle for every puck — but it’s also to stay healthy and be ready for the next game.

Sometimes the best save you can make is knowing when NOT to put yourself in harm’s way.

Compete hard. Protect your crease. Protect yourself. 🥅💯
