I remember having this thought 2 years ago while I was in the gym. I remember it vividly, I was sitting on the leg extension in between my set at 24 hr fitness in san diego.
What would happen if you took an individual who was down on their luck, not living their best life, knew they had more in life to give, and made them commit to themselves for just 2 weeks?
How would their life change? What kind of improvements could be seen in 2 weeks? Not just in their bodies but in their mental health and mindset as well?
What would change about this person if they committed to the gym everyday, ate well, journaled every morning, and read before bed?
I guaruntee you this persons life would change in just two weeks. The external environment might be the same, but the way this person walks through their life would change with intention. They are no longer being pushed around by life, they are now in control of their actions and leading themselves to a better destination.
I remember being so inspired and motivated by this idea. At the time I was still bussing tables at the restaurant I worked at. It was one of the many catalysts that lead to coaching.
The reason why I was reminded of this thought, is because that person is now me. I haven’t been living my best life, haven’t been holding myself accountable, and I’ve felt really down about it (not depressed thats something completely different, but just bleh). My diet had consisted of pizza, beer, and whatever was most convenient, and my actions were directed towards instant gratification (what is the most pleasurable thing for me to do right now).
Thats not the vision I have for myself and I was not congruent with the man I wanted to be.
Something needed to change, but i didn’t know what. Things are great in VA so its not my environment, it was something internal.
I decided to clean up my diet and hold myself accountable. This is me 10 days of conscious eating. I haven’t lost any weight, but I feel so much better. I feel like I got my swagger back lol.
So now I ask you, how would your life change if you committed to yourself for just 2 weeks? What would you do different and what areas would improve? 2 weeks is a blink of an eye in the grand scheme of things, but it is definitely enough time to make a significant change in your life.
