Zenobia Therapeutics along with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; is pleased to announce the 1st annual A Night of a Million Stars Gala held at the Grade Colonial, in La Jolla California, on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Just one day before the motion picture academy honors movie makers and their stars, this Gala will honor the true stars and heroes of southern California, “Those who battle cancer
and those who care for them,” in old Hollywood style.
100 percent of profits will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. As a team, we will swim, bike, and run a total of 128.4 miles with one goal in mind to raise $50,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). For the past three triathlon seasons, Zenobia has been raising funds for LLS. Everyone on our team has been touched by blood cancer. Meet our Team, Team Zen:
Robert & Vicki Meadows: This will be Rob’s 1st event with Team In Training and Vicki’s 3rd. Robert and Vicki Meadows married in 2007 and on December 1, 2009, Vicki gave birth to their daughter Abby. Fifteen days after Abby was born, Rob was diagnosed with AML and given only two months to live. Rob underwent chemo and then a bone marrow transplant. He is now a year and half out from his transplant and is doing well and training for his first triathlon. Barbara Leon: This will be Barbara’s 1st event with Team In Training. Barbara has also been personally touched by blood cancer. Barbara’s has a close friend whose 12 year old daughter, Vicky Tran, has been recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Money donated to LLS through Team In Training are used to fund ground breaking research into medications that could potentially allow a young girl like Vicky to experience life events like going to her high school prom and graduating college. Erika Zehm: This will be Erika’s 2nd event with Team In Training. She first joined TNT in May after much encouragement from Vicki Meadows to train for the Nations Triathlon which took place in the
Nation’s Capital on the 10th anniversary of September 11th. She ran the race in honor of her uncle who recently relapsed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma after beating it over 20 years ago. Thanks to the money raised by LLS, Erika’s uncle received funds that helped him continue his treatments. The evening’s program will include live music with special presentations of awards honoring Doctors, Nurses, Caregivers, pioneers and leaders who have contributed to the fight against cancer. We will conclude the evening with raffle drawings and a live auction. The night will also include a silent auction. Don’t miss out this fabulous opportunity to help and celebrate the achievements of those who battle cancer along with those who care for them. Please be our hero! Sincerely,
Team Zenobia
“I realized that everyone has a story. You might not like someone, you may hate them, they may have done you wrong, but they are still a creation of God and they have known joy and heartache, and they have dreams and hopes, and they have suffered failures and hardships. They have a life story and it is just as important as yours.” – Robert Meadows
