WHAT TO BRING: Ball with a name on it, water, two shirts (one dark, one light)

ANNOUNCING THE NEW SCRIPPS RANCH YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE!

After more than two years off due to the pandemic, a home-grown youth basketball league will debut this winter!

Scripps Ranch Youth Basketball League (SRYB) will open registration in October and games will begin in November. The league will focus on girls and boys in grades 3 through 6 with the hope to add more grades if there is enough interest and coaches. There will be separate divisions for girls and for boys.

Teams will practice on Friday evenings at Alliant International University's Sports Center and play games at the same site on Sundays. The league will be teaming up with the San Diego SOL Basketball Organization in order to guarantee top-flight practice and game facilities.

"We are delighted that SOL has stepped up to ensure there is a local recreational league option for our kids. SOL has a long history of providing great programs and we could not have made this happen without their generous support, " says John Owens, longtime Scripps resident and leader in the efforts to bring youth basketball back to the community.

IMPORTANT: As part of this re-launch effort, SRYB needs parent volunteers to coach teams and assist with some of the administrative duties. Many of the core volunteers from previous years no longer have players in the league but are willing to advise the new generation of enthusiastic parents in making this league successful. WE NEED YOU!!!

Scripps Ranch NJB is looking for parents of 3rd through 6th grade children interested in playing basketball to open the league next season!

SRNJB offers the opportunity for girls and boys to play in their own divisions in a supportive, recreational environment. Most players who have played at Scripps Ranch HS started in NJB where they learned basic skills while making new friends from neighboring schools!

Prior to the pandemic, the league was in existence over 25 years giving families a community where they could come together to cheer on their kids while they learned the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship and explored the great sport of basketball.

The league CANNOT open without motivated families. There is a group of former board members willing to advise those who would like to re-open the league. However, if there aren't any volunteers, this Scripps Ranch tradition will unfortunately have to close.

Players needed for 7th and 8th Grade Competitive teams playing at SOL Fall League

SR Falcons competitive team needs 1-2 players for 7th grade boys team and 2-3 players for 8th grade boys team. League starts on 9/18 and it requires intermediate competitive basketball skills. Part-time players doing another sport/team in parallel are welcome! Younger players ready to compete in older bracket are also welcome!

There will be two practices planned at a local outside court around Scripps Ranch. Games are held at Alliant gym. Games times vary but they will be distributed On Saturdays and Sundays.
