Dear Friends and Supporters,
With heavy hearts, we want to share that Team Vidaraid has made the very difficult decision to withdraw from the Adventure Racing World Championship. Our teammate Mirtha faced health concerns during the race, and despite taking breaks and several hours of rest, her condition did not improve enough for us to safely continue.
When we push our bodies to the absolute limit, there is a very thin line that separates glory from danger—and in this case, we knew it was more important to choose health and safety over pressing on. Mirtha has since been evaluated by the race medical team, is in stable condition, and is already recovering well.
We had hoped for a very different outcome, but in endurance sports—as in life—not everything goes as planned. What never changes, however, is the strength we draw from the incredible support of our community. We want to thank each of you, once more, for your beautiful generosity, encouragement, and the heartfelt messages we’ve received throughout this journey.
This is not the ending we envisioned, but it is a reminder that resilience also means knowing when to stop, care for one another, and come back stronger.
With gratitude,
Team Vidaraid
This Looks Like an Exit Strategy.
If this is Vidaraid out then that's very sad. Not a great end for one of the best teams over the last ten years or more. They have been behind the pace all race and you had to wonder if there was a problem. Hopefully everyone is ok.
When I picked my Top 10 I placed them 9th. I explained to Douglas Judson that I actually had a gut feeling that they were going to DNF but I don't think they have ever had one so I put it down to maybe an injury or bike problem to finish 9th. It looks like my premonition was correct.
It's ok I haven't had any visions of anyone close to me dying.
