2007 – Senior Year
At this point, I think I finally figured it out—“I understand it now” 😂. But I’m pretty sure my coach still hadn’t, and I love him like a dad! Stanley Bell and Mario Cash for putting in work on that 🏝️ .
We played our last series of the year before the tournament against Florida Gulf Coast. I played in both games, but I was the DH in the first one. I hated DH’ing—I wanted to be on the field, I wanted the ball every play. I hit best when I was in the field too.
OK, keeping it real… maybe it had something to do with that little argument I had with the assistant coach. 👀
Anyway, I played second base in the second game and finished the season hitting .353, then went off in the conference tournament, hitting .673. Made All-Conference, second to Deshon Brooks, at the time we were 3rd basemen and I was nominated for all conference DH. However, a chose to take the 3rd base award. I was better than him—he was just bigger. But I’m glad he got his cup of coffee with the Red Sox. ✊🏾
I learned perseverance, overall hard work dedication and expectation.
Also, I own Florida Gulf Coast with a record of 2-1 when starting .500 5-10 …. Out of 12 possibly game 😂 9 possibly dubs, we will never know 🤷🏾♂️ 😂
Also Florida Gulf Coast could not hit Lefties! Especially one with a good slider and curve.
