Congratulations to Randy Rivera who was promoted to Green Belt (Gokyu) last Thursday night. Randy has been doing judo for about 5 months. He will be joining the Coast Guard soon.

Congratulations to Jorge Partida (44 years old) who was recently promoted to Green Belt. Prior to starting judo about 6 months ago, Jorge did jiu jitsu for several years. Jorge is an excellent student and a quick learner.

Congratulations to Mark Vasquez who was promoted to Sankyu brown belt last night. Next to Mark are assistant instructors, Alejandro Mora, James Beck and Calvin Sessions who led the class for head instructor, Bob Uemura. Mark started judo in 2022 in his late 20’s and has made great progress. Sensei Bob tells Mark all the time that if he came to practice more regularly and commit to improving his judo he can be much better. Hopefully, getting his Sankyu brown belt will motivate Mark.

Congratulations to Mark Vasquez who took 1st place at the East Bay Judo Tournament on Sunday, September 14, 2025 held at El Cerrito High School in El Cerrito, California. Now with his win and points, Mark will be getting promoted to the rank of Sankyu brown belt after he passes his Sankyu exam.
