Team Dinner Guest of Honor, Lisa Lissimore!
It was our honor to welcome Lisa, a Minnesota Basketball Legend, women's pioneer, and culture changer!
Lisa Lissimore, a native of St. Paul's Rondo Community, helped lead St. Paul Central High School to the first Class AA Girls Basketball Championship in 1976. A 2009 inductee into the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, Lissimore played one season for the University of Minnesota women's basketball team before completing her playing career and education at Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa. Lissimore represented the University of Minnesota on the Big Ten Advisory Commission representative from 1997 to 2004.
After completing a collegiate basketball and educational career, Lissimore’s administrative career with the Minnesota State High School League began as a representative of the Minnesota State Board of Education to the League’s Board of Directors. That paved the way to becoming the League's Associate Director in 1988, serving for 34 years to the more than 500 member schools of the Minnesota State High School League, effectively retiring in 2022 where she was then inducted into the MSHS prestigious hall of fame. During Lissimore’s administrative journey, her enthusiasm for service and energetic spirit positively impacted thousands of the lives of students, coaches and school leaders. Activities under her direction and leadership included Boys and Girls Cross Country Running, Boys and Girls Swimming and Diving, Girls Basketball, Synchronized Swimming, Badminton and Softball. In 2021, Lissimore was selected the recipient of the prestigious NFHS Section 5 Citation Award for distinguished service to schools throughout the country. Lisa now volunteers her time & spends it with family, including watching her son Kendall Blue, currently playing D1 for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Lisa spoke to our team for about an hour, and our girls were hanging on to every word. Thanks for all you do Lisa! It was our honor to host you!
