We would like to thank all of the hunters that trusted us with finding their deer this past season. We had a hard start to the season, but Radar and Smoke picked up the slack. It was fun watching Radar, and Smoke grow this past season.
We don't screen our tracks. If you call us we are coming. We ran a total of 62 tracks this past season, and we had 39 recoveries. Our recovery total counts deer we put on the tail gate (27), and deer that we recieve "proofs of life" on (12). I think we did Pepper proud with a 63% recovery rate.
I have to thank the tracking community for supporting us, and guiding us through the season. We are blessed to be surrounded by such a great group of people in South Carolina Tracking Dogs. We hope everyone stays safe.

Congratulations to this young man for putting a nice doe in the freezer on youth day.
In between rain storms on youth day morning, this young man shot this big doe a little too low, and she ran off. While the hunter was looking for his deer, another rain storm moved in, and washed away all visible sign.
The hunters felt sure the doe went left out of the field, and died somewhere out of the left side of the field. The hunters walked a large grid search area with no success, and the hunters contacted a tracker for assistance. That tracker was unavailable to help, so he asked us to take the track. Damon Chase thanks for trusting in us.
We dropped Radar and Smoke, and walked them up the the hit site. The dogs took a line out the left side of the field, but at an angle away from where the hunters grid searched. The doe ended up running a 300 yard loop around the field, and died on the opposite side of the field she left from.

On New Years Eve a hunter called us, and asked us for our opinion concerning the deer they shot at. The hunter explains that he shot at a big doe, but didn't see the direction the deer left the field due to the muzzle flash. When the hunter, and his dad looked at the hit site they found no blood, bone, hair, or any other sign the deer had been hit. The hunter also said they felt good about their shot even though they could find any proof. We felt that, it was best to bring the dogs to confirm a miss. Once we arrived at the hit site with the dogs, the dogs took the track straight back twords the hunter's stand, and turned hard right into the woods. Once the Doe hit the tree line, shevstarted bleeding pretty good. Radar and Smoke had us standing over this big doe in about 10 mins. Congratulations to the hunter for filling the freezer, and thanks for trusting us.

We would like to thank for teaming up with us on this track. Every effort was made to recover this deer, but unfortunately we couldn't make it happen.

We were able to recover this doe for a hunter early Chritmas morning. The doe was leg shot and had been laying 5.5 hoirs before we arrived. In that time frame, the coyotes caught and killed the doe, and had started eating her. Leg shot deer will become targets for coyotes. Do not wait to call a dog when you find bone at hit site or along the track. Call them immediatly.

💡Tracker Tip Thursday! 🦌

When in doubt, keep it between the legs — that’s where the vitals beg!

Trackers see the same pattern every season: “Aim at the shoulder and it’ll knock them down every time.”

We wish that were true. Aiming behind the shoulder is what actually increases your recovery odds!
