Royals Coaching Spotlight! Marcus Murray - JC Royals 13U Blue Head Coach

Coach Marcus is a Fleming Island High School alumnus who played a key role in the program's 2021 run to the Florida Class 6A State Championship game. As a two-way contributor, he helped anchor a roster that finished as state runner-up and earned recognition for its strong pitching and competitive consistency throughout the season.

He went on to pitch at the Division Il level adding college playing experience to his background and continuing to build his understanding of the game.

Marcus has been coaching youth players ages 7-14 on and off since 2018 and has spent the last three years working as a private instructor. His mix of high school success, college pitching experience, and steady coaching work gives him a strong base to help our young athletes grow.

Royals Coaching Spotlight! Matt Miller - JC Royals 14U Gold Head Coach

Coach Matt Miller:�“Leave nothing on the field.”
Mantra: Play hard, Train harder, Have fun!
I bring over 20 years of coaching experience at all levels, specializing in catchers, player development and building strong, cohesive teams. I expect accountability, hustle, and a team-first mindset from every athlete. I have coached players of all abilities, I focus on individual growth to elevate the entire team.
My goal is simple: prepare every player for the next level with solid fundamentals, advanced baseball IQ, a competitive mindset rooted in effort and passion, and the understanding of the concept of the games within the games.

Royals Coaching Spotlight! Brayden Lackey - 13U Royals Gold Head Coach

Brayden has a long tenure in coaching and player development. He has been running private individual hitting and fielding lessons as well as team camps and clinics since 2016. He has spent 3 seasons as an assistant coach in the high school ranks from 2016-2019. Brayden was a member of the coaching staff on two Prospect League teams over the past few years. He was the hitting and base running coach for the Johnstown Mill Rats in the summer of 2021. His most recent stint in the Prospect League was in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where he was the hitting coach, and coached base runners and infielders. The Cape Catfish were among the league leaders in batting average, stolen bases and fielding percentage during his tenure. In 2024 he was an assistant on the Staff of the Florida State College at Jacksonville Blue Wave.

In high school, Brayden enjoyed a successful career where he started as a sophomore and earned three varsity letters. He received several post season honors and awards as a junior and a senior. Brayden was a member of the 2014 PIAA District III championship team.

As a collegiate student-athlete Brayden earned his degree in Sports Management and Business Administration from Mount Aloysius College. While attending Mount Aloysius he was a member of the baseball team where he earned AMCC All-Conference honors and lead the conference in RBIs.

Off the field and outside of the cage, Brayden hails from Central Pennsylvania. He enjoys spending free time with friends and family, fishing, kayaking, and golfing.

A few weeks late posting, but our JC Royals boys hosted a Perfect Game showcase in our community for the first time that we can remember. PG evaluators from across the country came out to evaluate our players in 60 times, defense, hitting, pop times, and pitching. They also helped all the boys get their recruiting profiles setup and uploaded all data and analytics. This will be an annual fall event exclusively for the JC Royals program.
