Hogwild Travis My name is Travis Williams. I am 37 years old and run a professional lawn care service. I hunt on average 3-4 nights a week 52 weeks a year.

If I am not cutting grass I am actively pursuing the destructive feral wild hog. I put up large numbers of hogs.

Most people never see what I saw tonight.
Called in a coyote and when it stepped into range, it was obvious something was wrong. Skin raw, patchy, almost no fur left—completely eaten up with mange. That animal wasn’t living… it was slowly dying.
Mange is caused by microscopic mites that burrow into the skin. It spreads easily—especially in areas with high coyote populations where animals are constantly crossing paths. One infected coyote turns into several, and before long it runs through an entire group. The itching is relentless. They scratch until they bleed. They lose their fur, can’t regulate body temperature, and eventually die from exposure, infection, or starvation.
That’s the part people don’t like to talk about.
Nature doesn’t give clean, quick endings. It gives slow suffering.
Managing predator populations isn’t about cruelty—it’s about preventing more of this. When numbers get too high, disease spreads faster and hits harder. Hunting helps keep populations in check and reduces the chances of outbreaks like mange taking over an area.
Tonight wasn’t about a trophy. It was about putting down an animal that was already on a bad path and doing my part to keep things balanced.
Mother Nature is far more ruthless than any hunter could ever be.

Had to get up close and personal last night. Shot the big boar at 7 yards in some of the thickest nastiest briars on the property. DNT Optics hydra 635 and hound 635 were my saviors. Never would have seen him without them. Got a few smaller ones too. Doing my civic duty to eliminate invasive wild hogs.

DNT Optics hydra 635 with the qdm150 mount is a significant innovation, particularly for traveling light and stalk hunting. I highly appreciate this setup and its versatility. Additionally, I would like to mention that the hydra can also be utilized as a clip-on in front of a lpvo scope 1-6 power, allowing for effortless addition of thermal imaging to a daytime rig for seamless day or night operation. All new hydra purchases come standard with a qd mount.

Got to assist with a government program last night taking blood samples on feral swine, testing for African swine flu, brucellosis, and a few other nasty bugs this invasive animal can carry. DNT Optics thermnignt 635 and a hydra 635 used as a handheld made finding the hogs easy.
