Our dream, it never stopped, just become a little more quiet.

We needed time to step back, make some tough decisions, and really figure out what this needed to become.

But, that time wasn’t wasted. There have been impactful conversations with other leaders across teams in the league, learning and making sure this is being built the right way.

But what we’re building… well, reaches beyond just one city.

Basketball is coming to the Great Lakes. We’re getting closer.

Public Announcement – Saginaw Soul Basketball

To our fans, community, and partners,

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to delay the official launch of the Saginaw Soul until next season.

Our league has been faced with some unique structural and operational challenges and we believe it is in the best interest of our players, staff, and community to wait until the foundation is stable.

After coordinating with team leadership across the league, we will follow a few examples of some other teams that are similarly taking a break from this upcoming season. We get one opportunity to introduce the Soul. We are dedicated to doing it the right way: with the professionalism, excitement, and stability that Saginaw deserves.

Ultimately, the decision came down to timing. Our players matter. This means we decided to postpone early enough to give these incredibly talented players as much advance notice as possible. We are committed to working alongside them to keep their talents local to our league if possible.

If you take away anything here, it’s that this is not the end of Saginaw Soul.

This setback breaks our hearts. But every hardship presents an opportunity for growth and we will continue building the infrastructure, partnerships, and experience that will make the Soul’s first season unforgettable. Our mission remains unchanged: to bring pride, opportunity, and transformation through basketball to the Great Lakes Bay Region.

We deeply appreciate your patience, support, and belief in what we are building.

Together, we are shaping something special, and when the time is right, the Soul will take the court stronger than ever.
