UNM Men's Rugby

UNM Men's Rugby Welcome to the UNM Lobos RFC official page. UNM competes in the D1A (West) Conference-USA Rugby's College Premiership, and the Rio Grande RFU.

Established in 1973, the UNM Lobos Rugby Football Club represents The University of New Mexico in the Rio Grande Rugby Football Union (RGRFU) and in the USA Rugby D1A-West Conference. The defending RGRFU Collegiate Men’s Champion Lobos play their home matches at UNM Johnson Field (Elevation: 5,352 feet). Notable UNM Lobos RFC Alumni include Henry “Hank” Crumpton (class of 1978, 2011 Zimmerman Awar

d Winner). In Washington, he served as deputy chief of the International Terrorism Operations Section, and was deputy chief of the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center. In 2001 and 2002, Crumpton led the CIA’s Afghanistan campaign. Back in DC, Crumpton became chief of the CIA’s National Resources Division until his ultimate appointment as Ambassador at Large and Coordinator of Counterterrorism at the U.S. State Department. UNM offers more than 200 national recognized degree programs (including 94 baccalaureates, 74 Mas-ter’s and 40 doctoral programs). In addition to housing the only medical, pharmacy, architecture and law schools in New Mexico, the University’s Nursing and Midwifery program is ranked 2nd in the country, as is the UNM photography department. Both its rural medicine and family medicine programs are placed in the top 10 nationally by U.S. News & World Report, and the UNM School of Law is prized for its faculty and student diversity, as well as being ranked 6th in the nation for clinical training. UNM is also home to the nation’s largest long-term ecological research facility. Founded in 1889 as New Mexico’s flagship institution, The University of New Mexico now occupies nearly 800 acres near old Route 66 in the heart of Albuquerque, a metropolitan area of more than 500,000 people. From the magnificent mesas to the west, past the banks of the historic Rio Grande to the Sandia Mountains to the east, Albuquerque is a blend of culture and cuisine, styles and stories, people, pursuits and panoramas. Offering a distinctive campus environment with a Pueblo Revival architectural theme, the campus build-ings echo nearby Pueblo Indian villages. The nationally recognized campus arboretum and the popular duck pond offer an outstanding botanical experience in the midst of one of New Mexico’s great public open spaces.
