This weekend was a great time for Logan Couty Wrestling! Saturday we wrestled in Russellville’s 1st Annual team tournament. Varsity ended up taking 5th place going 5-1 beating Owensboro, Western Hill, Logan B, Greenwood and Warren Central. Logan County Team two took 6th place going 4-2 beating Trinity Whitesville, Marion County, Warren Central and Greenwood. Blake Gipson got top wrestler in the tournament. Great wrestling Saturday.
Sunday wrestling….Madilyn Cannon traveled to Kentucky Middle School State Championships. She became Logan County’s first ever state medalist. Good job Madilyn!!!

Sorry all, making a post about one of the best men, mentors, and father figures I have had in my life. Charlie Hudson,or “Sarge” as I always called him, passed away today. This man has a lot to do with why I am who I am! Sergeant Hudson spent his life as a military man, always putting Country and Family first! He was my wrestling coach from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. He helped out with PeeWee football. He was also my recruiter for the military. I feared for him greatly one night in November He had just enlisted myself and a couple of friends in the military. He called a meeting of all our parents at a friend’s house to let them know what was going on…..of course he had the hard job of letting the parents know but he stood his ground….trust me my father was not happy. He helped me in many problems I had in college. He helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. He was a father figure to me when I didn’t have a father in my life. I spent many nights at his house and with his family. I just recently started a wrestling program here in Kentucky, and he was one of my first phone calls. He helped set up my team coming home to Seneca to wrestle. He has always been a light in my life and a wonderful role model. He will be greatly missed. His family is in our prayers.

Please share…..if you live in the Logan County area, our board recently approved paid positions for middle school coaches, and I’m looking to pay for an elementary wrestling coach. I know we aren’t in a wrestling community but looking for some responsible adults that like to mentor and shape the younger generation. Wrestling experience is good but not required. Some of the best coaches in wrestling I know have never wrestled a day in their life. You just need passion and the willingness to help improve and motivate kids. If you’re interested, please reach out. We can get you up to speed and send you to a couple of wrestling camps.

Day 3 of wrestling. I was able to sit and watch a pee-wee wrestling tournament today with my friend from 5 years old. His son is 6 years old and just starting his wrestling journey. It was a fun day with lots of smiles. The crowds at these tournaments are unreal. Someday Logan County.

Update on Day 2 of Wrestling. The Seneca Tournament had some of the best wrestling we have seen this year. It was a tough 5 state tournament but the kids had a great time and a great learning experience. As a new team we fought well! Out of 16 teams we took 9th place. Had several 7th, 6th and 5th place finishes. We had one wrestler make the finals and finished 2nd place finishes. Dameon Jones was the 2nd Place finisher. Great Job Logan County.

Day one of wrestling at Wyandotte Oklahoma last night against Seneca, Wyandotte and Fairland was a great experience. Kids up bright and early for day 2, 5 state tournament at Seneca Missouri. Great experience for the kids and catching up with a lot of old wrestlers from the 80s.

Great Day for Logan County Wrestling! The team traveled to Nelson County to wrestle in JV Regionals with a shot to make it to the State Championships on 14 February. The team picked up a lot of victories by all wrestlers, but we had six wrestlers place at Regionals with 4 punching their ticket to the State Championships! Hard work, dedication, and never giving up is what it takes. Great job and Good Luck!

Posting two events that happened this week, let’s do today first! Logan County Wrestling team traveled to Central Hardin to wrestling in there yearly tournament. Both the girls and the boys team had 30 teams out of our region competing and our new team did an outstanding job. Just about the entire team finished the day 2-2 or 3-2 on the day! The boys placed 13 out of 30 and the girls placed 14 out of 30! Above 500 in our region is a great start for a first year team, so proud of these young men and women.
