Rio Hondo District is part of the Conquistador Council, chartered by the Boy Scouts of America in Southeastern New Mexico to administer Scouting programs that build character and train our young people in the responsibilities of participatory citizenship, as well as develop personal fitness. The Rio Hondo District is led by volunteers, with administrative duties performed by a professional Scouter

. The District Chairman is the top volunteer; the District Executive is the top professional and the District Commissioner coaches, consults and helps maintain the standards of the Boy Scouts of America.
