Off to a late start this season, but Team Lucky G is finally headed down the road!

The trailer is loaded, the horses are tucked in and getting their rest this evening, and tomorrow we roll out for the 11 Point Showdown. The wagon is packed, the horses are feeling good, and we can’t wait to see that clover and G make its way around the track again.

We switched things up a little this year, so what better time than now to introduce part of the team?

🐴 Scout

When ZZ Top sang, “She’s got legs and she knows how to use them,” we can’t help but think they were talking about Scout.

As our inside horse, she’s responsible for making those turns happen, and she does it with power, grit, and a stride that seems to go on forever. This will be Scout’s second year on the track with Team Lucky G, and she’s more than ready. The practice wagon and practice track have only fueled the fire. She’s done with rehearsals and ready for opening night.

🐴 Gump

Coming in on the outside of the hookup… it’s Gumpin’ Time.

Gump may be the newest member of the team, but don’t mistake new for inexperienced. He’s got speed, heart, and enough try to make up for anything else. He’s all business when the gun goes off, but don’t let him fool you, he fully expects payment in treats after the run and a cool down.

Scout and Gump are the youngest members of the team at just five years old, and we’re excited to watch these two young horses figure it out together and show everyone what they’re capable of.

🐴 Trooper

And last, but never least, our golden boy.

Trooper is the kind of horse every team hopes for. He knows his job, he knows everyone else’s job, and if somebody forgets, he’ll gladly remind them. Whether he’s pulling the wagon, running it down as an outrider, or packing kids around the pasture, he shows up ready to work.

Calm when he needs to be, tough when it counts, and always dependable, Trooper is the steady hand of the crew and a big reason Team Lucky G gets down the track.

Here’s to the start of another season for us!

Girls, Girls, Girls… and a Couple Cowboys Hangin’ On!! 🎶
You know the tune, but these girls don’t dance on Sunset Strip.
They run! Full throttle, long-legged, red-hot mares with fire in their eyes and dirt flying behind ‘em.
It’s a beautiful Sunday here at the Arkansas State Finals Chuckwagon Race, and the team’s gearing up to roll again after lighting up the track yesterday, leaving the boys hanging on for dear life!

Here’s to horsepower, a little bit of chaos, and a whole lot of Girls, Girls, Girls. 🍀

Happy Sunday Morning, Outlaw Nation!

We’ve had an amazing weekend so far! Good fellowship, rodeos, live music, great food, a top-notch track, and some fast wagon racing!

Speaking of racing… how about that action on Saturday afternoon?! Our girls Scout & Juicy came to run! As soon as the harness came out, they switched straight into business mode. Those mares know their job, they shot a look over at the team manager like, “Make sure these boys know theirs. Trooper, get out in front and tell those cowboys to hang on tight, we’ve got the rest handled!”
And handle it they did!

The Lucky G Crew is up and ready to do it all again today. See y’all on the track! 🍀

What was supposed to be a quiet little practice drive… turned into a full-blown thrill ride. 👀💨
Scout and Juicy dusted off their halters, and Juicy came outta early retirement like she had a score to settle.

She didn’t even wait for the warmup.
Juicy said:
“Oh, y’all need someone to RUN? Say less.” 😏
Next thing you know, her and Scout were out there whipping around corners.
Luke was stomping brakes and holdin’ lines like he was tryin’ to keep the world from spinning.

Meanwhile, the mares? Not a care in the world.
They threw a look over their shoulders like:
“Y’all ridin’ or y’all nervous?”
Our poor passengers thought they were in for a scenic little ride through Hickory Plains…
What they got was a warp-speed tour and a free lesson in raw horsepower.

Word around the barn is… the boys better be ready.
Because in a few weeks, they’re about to get the wagon ride of their lives.

They say there’s no love or loyalty like what you get from a good gelding…
But when it comes to speed, grit, and getting it DONE, you send in the mares.
See y’all at Chase Outlaw.

Juicy’s got something to say!

One of her favorite feed stores, Circle L, is having their Anniversary Sale today and tomorrow, and she wants y’all to know they’ve got all the good stuff!

When she’s not busy eating her weight in hay, Juicy’s personal favorite is the Triumph 12/8, and she highly recommends it. 😂

Circle L’s vast selection of products helps us keep our racehorses in peak condition. Whether they’re running wild in the pasture or zipping around the track, they’re always ready.

We’re incredibly thankful for small businesses like Circle L that support our community and our horses with top-quality products and service.

🎉 Congratulations to our friends at Circle L on over two decades in business!
Here’s to many more years of keeping our four-legged athletes happy and healthy.

Y’all didn’t really think we weren’t gonna have the wagon back up and running for the biggest race of the year, did you?!
She’s got some new beauty marks and one heck of a story to tell. That brand-new tarp has got a few scuffs on it, but we’ve never been prouder or more grateful to see that clover and G come around the track. 🍀G

We want to thank every single one of y’all for the prayers, the help, and the constant encouragement. We know those prayers have kept and continue to keep us safe, and we don’t take that for granted, not one bit.
This wagon has had more hands on it than ever before, making sure she was back together and ready to roll. And that encouragement? Man, it’s been good to hear. We haven’t been alone in this, not for one single step.

From all of us at Team Lucky G, thank you! 🍀💚

Goooood morning, Clinton, Arkansas!

Friday’s race was something else! 🔥 Scout and Big Daddy have been Willbanks trained, exercised, and fed and if you’ve been around the game long enough, you already know what that means. And if you haven’t? Well, let us fill you in…
It means they’re FAST. It means they’re CONDITIONED. And it means they’re FIERY. They’re all but breathing fire right now. 🐎🔥
When Scout started gearing up, she was nearly too much to handle, our girl was ready to run! Courtney just smiled and said, “I love them fiery!”

The team looked sharp yesterday. Luke is still on strict doctor’s orders to stay out of the wagon, and when we got that news just a month out from Clinton, yeah, we panicked a little. But thankfully, our good friend Tater stepped in to drive for us this weekend.
He’s had them absolutely flying around the track. And with almost thirty years in the sport, the reins couldn’t have been in better hands. 👊
The horses are hot, the crew is locked in, and we’re rolling strong. See y’all at the races!

From all of Team Lucky G, Thank You! ❤️

We want to take a moment to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts. Yesterday was one of the most exciting runs we’ve had as Team Lucky G, and without a doubt, one of the scariest.

We’re incredibly grateful to share that everyone is okay. CJ, JD, and Luke are all safe. Just a few bruises, scrapes, and one dislocated shoulder. Nothing that time, rest, and a lot of grit won’t heal.

The outpouring of love and support has truly blown us away. The calls, texts, messages, prayers, and the incredible help at the scene… We’re not sure we could name everyone who stepped in, but please know, we are so deeply thankful.

When I (Megan) made it to the other side of the track, everywhere I looked, I saw people helping, some faces I knew and so many I didn’t. I was looking for three green shirts, and once I saw our guys were all upright, that they were okay, I started asking about the horses, the wagon, everything else… and every single time, I heard:

“We got it.” “It’s handled.” “Already taken care of.”
Or even, “Get in the ambulance with Luke, we’ve got the rest. Just tell us what you need.”

This community never fails to amaze me. The heart and selflessness shown…no hesitation, no questions asked. Whether it’s something small like a borrowed tool at camp, or something far more intense, like unharnessing horses, flipping a wagon, and helping fellow racers back on their feet, it’s always done with genuine care.

You don’t find that in every sport.

Our horses are doing well. In fact, they were still trying to pull what was left of the wagon, looking back at our guys on the ground like, “What are y’all doing? We’re doing our job, now stay in it!” 😅

JD and Trooper were out front doing what they do best—flying—and thankfully were clear of the wagon when it flipped. Scout and Big Daddy are both okay too. We’ve gotten good updates while Luke and I have been here at the hospital. They’re amped and ready to run, and as always, they’ll be cared for like the athletes and family members they are to us.

The wagon… well, it’s seen better days, but it’s nothing we can’t fix.

From our whole team, thank you. We’ll be back out there soon. Stronger than ever.

Lastly, we want to send our thoughts and prayers to the Dizzy D team, who also had an accident after our run. We’re thinking of you and wishing you a full and speedy recovery. 💚

With gratitude,
Team Lucky G 🍀

🍀TEAM INTRO TIME🍀
You’ve met the horsepower—now meet the man-power. 💪🐎

These aren’t just names on a lineup. They grew up around chuckwagon racing, some started before they could spell it, and they’re the ones making it all happen behind the scenes (and in the dust).
Let’s break it down:

🔥 Austin
Cook. Outrider. Certified smooth operator.
Austin’s the guy who does it all, and makes it look unfairly easy. He’s calm, collected, and locked in whether he’s jumping into the back of the wagon or flying down the track on horseback.
You ever seen someone jump over a massive Thoroughbred when it’s time to saddle up and ride? Because we have, and it was Austin.
And notice there’s no pictures of him hopping in the back of the wagon when it’s race time? That’s because no one can catch him on camera. He’s already in and gone before the shutter clicks.
He’s got that next-level horsemanship, always thinking of the horse first. If Austin’s on the sidelines drinking water before a run, you can bet his horse is hydrating too, even if it means he’s pouring it into his own hand.
If Austin’s in the mix, you know something good’s about to happen.

🎯 Luke
Chris Stapleton, is that you?!
Nah… it’s just our driver, Luke, though with the beard, the vibe, and the focus behind those checklines, the resemblance is real.
Luke’s the man holding the lines and keeping the team right on the track. He didn’t start racing as early as the other guys, not for lack of trying.
Momma said no. (She still says no… but you can’t hear that over the sound of hooves pounding the ground and wooden wheels rolling.)
Despite the delayed start, Luke’s right where he belongs, guiding the wagon down the stretch with a steady hand, a sharp eye, and that classic “watch this” attitude.
He’s been coming to the races since he was in diapers and now he’s behind the lines living the dream he grew up watching. Full circle. Full speed.

💥 CJ
This guy? He’s done it all. Outrider. Cook. Driver. Pretty sure he even built half the practice wagon and probably fixed the other half before breakfast.
CJ’s been climbing on horses and chasing wagons since he could barely reach the stirrups. Rumor has it he’ll be 32 and picking up his 30-year racing recognition at Clinton… and honestly, we don’t even question it.
He’s the kind of guy who shows up early, stays late, and somehow knows how to do everything. Need a gate fixed? He’s on it. Need an outrider, a backup driver, or maybe even a chiropractor? CJ’s your guy.
Tough as they come, and exactly who you want in your corner when things get western.

These three brought together a lifetime of experience, a few too many “hold my drink” moments, and a whole lot of hard work and that’s what makes up Team Lucky G. 🍀
