Dear Parents and Coaches,

Youth sports should be a space for growth, enjoyment, and the development of important life skills. However, when the focus shifts too heavily towards winning or intense pressure, we risk losing sight of what really matters: fostering a love for the game, building confidence, and learning how to handle both success and failure.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t work hard, push ourselves, or teach our young athletes the value of competition. Hard work, discipline, and striving to improve are essential. But it’s important to understand the difference between pushing someone to reach their potential and pushing them to the point of burnout or discouragement. The pressure to win should never overshadow the joy of playing the game or the process of personal development.

Every young lady deserves an environment where she feels supported, encouraged, and empowered to grow at her own pace—where her effort and progress are celebrated, win or lose. Let’s keep the focus on developing not only skilled athletes but also confident, resilient individuals.

Thank you for your understanding and for prioritizing the well-being of the athletes above all else.
