Most travel softball teams are made up of players from different schools, and Rome Fastpitch was no different.

This year, girls from multiple schools came together to form one team. Along the way, they built friendships, created memories, and developed bonds that will last long after this season ends.

Now comes the fun part.

In just 6–7 weeks, many of these same teammates will become opponents as middle school softball practice begins. They’ll step onto opposite sides of the field, wearing different uniforms, representing different schools, and competing against some of their best friends.

And honestly… I can’t wait to watch it.

I know they’ll compete hard because that’s who they are. But I also know they’ll respect one another because they’ve spent a season learning, growing, winning, losing, and battling together.

It’s going to be exciting to watch these girls represent both Rome Fastpitch and their schools this season.

And just so everyone knows… the competitive spirit is already alive and well. A few playful shots have already been fired at practice as the girls exchange some friendly but respectful—trash talk. 😂🥎

I have a feeling middle school softball in Rome is going to be a lot of fun to watch this year.

Yesterday, these girls crossed the state line into Alabama, where some tough competition was waiting. There were no easy games, every team brought their best, and our girls faced each opponent’s top pitcher and found a way to battle through it all to bring home the championship.

Our pitching was on point, the defense made big-time plays, and offensively they delivered when it mattered most.

Super proud of this team, they’ve now gone back-to-back gold bracket champions. 🏆🏆

Love seeing our girls recognized for their hard work! Emerson Davenport and Charlee Green putting Cedartown and Rome Fastpitch on the map.

CMS Athletic Achievement Highlight 3.14: Our Emerson Davenport and Charlee Green, 6th Grade, with their Rome Fastpitch Softball Team, played in the April Reign Classic Tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee this past weekend, and went undefeated ALL DAY!!! ❤🐾🖤🥎

This week, we were scheduled to play in a tournament supporting autism.

We had special shirts made to wear for the cause and to support one of our own, the Rome Fastpitch Ballinger family - our teammate Ava Ballinger, whose sister Mya is autistic. I had been excited about this all season, especially knowing the tournament planned to honor autism in a special way by giving those attending with autism a ring.

Midweek, we found out the tournament wouldn’t happen due to not enough 12U teams.

So we pivoted.

At the last minute, we found another tournament that gave us the opportunity to still wear our shirts - designed by our own Jay Champion and made quickly by Cedarstream (thank you!).

With a new plan in place, it was time to compete.

We came out flat and found ourselves down 6–0 in the first inning. But this group… they’ve shown what they’re made of. Coming off a comeback in our last tournament bracket championship, they stayed together, responded, and battled back to tie it 6–6, then went on to win the game.

From that point on, they never looked back.

Five straight wins later, they were crowned tournament champions.

The girls earned their rings and Mya earned one too.

And somehow, the best part… the championship ring turned out to be purple. 💜🥎
