Hey everyone! 🤍 As many of you know, I’m officially about 48 hours away from knee surgery.
For anyone I haven’t had the opportunity to communicate with personally, this means I’ll be stepping away from coaching for about two months while I focus on recovery.
A little backstory: I originally injured my knee back in college and never actually had it fixed. At the time, I was told I could build enough muscle around it and hopefully continue without surgery. And honestly, for a long time, I did exactly that.
But over the past two years, it has become completely miserable. I haven’t felt like my 100% physical self, and I’ve had to work around limitations that most people probably never even realized I was dealing with. So as nervous as I am, I’m also EXTREMELY excited to finally get this surgery done, start the healing process, and eventually get back to a healthier version of myself with no limitations. 🙏🏾
This will also be my first major surgery outside of getting my wisdom teeth removed years ago, so I genuinely don’t know exactly what this experience will look like for me physically or mentally. I just ask that everyone gives me patience and respects my healing process while I experience something like this for the first time.
To all of my choreography clients: you will continue to have first priority when it comes to getting in touch with me throughout your preparation for competition season. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything regarding your routines. I’m still here for y’all! ❤️
For everyone else, I promise I’ll be back coaching eventually. Right now, though, my number one priority is ME—my health, my recovery, and taking advantage of something I haven’t really had in a very long time: the opportunity to truly sit down.
For the first time in my life, there will be no noise, no running around, no traveling, no coaching, and no counting to 8 every five seconds. 😂 Just time to focus on myself.
And I actually think a lot of good is going to come from that.
I’m going to use this recovery period to finally put real time into projects I’ve been working on for the past two years, focus on the logistics behind some new opportunities, and continue growing creatively outside of coaching. I also want to pour more into social media, develop new concepts, create more content, and come back from recovery with some fresh ideas.
I’ll even be sharing parts of my recovery journey along the way so y’all can keep up with me through the process. 🦿😂
As strange as it feels to be forced to sit down, I’m choosing to look at this season for what it can give me instead of only focusing on what it temporarily takes away.
To every athlete, parent, coach, program, choreography client, friend, and person who has supported me: thank you. I truly would not be where I am today without the love and support y’all have shown me throughout my career.
Now it’s time to take care of the knee I probably should’ve taken care of years ago. 😂
Here’s to surgery, healing, new projects, new opportunities, and eventually getting back to doing what I love with a healthy body and NO LIMITATIONS. 🤍🙏🏾
See y’all on the other side. 🫶🏾
