Apparently we’re making some noise.

BusinessRate currently ranks Halls of Valhalla Gunsmithing #1 among Rocky Point gun shops for Momentum, based on Google review data.

We’re still a small shop competing against businesses that have been around longer and accumulated more reviews, but we’re currently leading the local field in recent momentum.

That’s because of you guys.

Every review, referral, transfer, repair and customer who trusts us with their firearm helps build this place.

We’re currently sitting 9 points away from the #1 overall Benchmark ranking.

So we’re not hanging the victory banner yet.

Had a friend send me a pre-release copy of a book he’s been working on.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect going into it. Turns out it’s pretty damn good.

Military fiction, dark humor, brotherhood, bad decisions, and the kind of stuff that follows guys home long after the shooting stops.

Had a rifle come across the bench recently with a “drop-in” trigger installed by another shop.

Symptoms:
• Inconsistent cocking
• Trigger pull measured at roughly 1/4 oz (yeah… you read that right)
• Sear engagement was unsafe—negative pressure instead of positive
• Rifle had reportedly fired on bolt close more than once

Let that sink in.

The manufacturer’s spec on this trigger? 1.5 – 4 lbs.

After correcting the installation and properly adjusting the system, the rifle is now functioning as intended but it took significant rework and extensive testing to get there.

Here’s the point:
A trigger isn’t just about a “light pull.” It’s about safe sear engagement, proper geometry, and reliability under real-world conditions.

Cut corners here and you’re not tuning a rifle—you’re building a liability.

Takeaway:
Choose your gunsmith like your life depends on it… because in this case, it actually does.
