Good afternoon, Losko Motorsports followers, friends, and family. We’re back home after a long and eventful weekend at the third annual Sandhills Bracket Championship at Rockingham Dragway. This weekend was filled with car challenges, the occasional bad weather delay, and late, late, nights of racing under the lights.
Here’s a recap of the weekends events:
Day 1) Friday was a test and tune. The boys were glad to be back in their cars and ready to race. They each made several clean passes and gave us some solid data to start the weekend off right.
Day 2) Saturday was race day number one. Over 50 juniors were entered. Each of the boys made it through round one, then a storm blew in and delayed us for about 4 hours. When we got back at it the boys were able to get into a good groove until the track decided it was late and called racing for the night.
Day 3) up early Sunday morning to finish out race day number one. The boys had a strong showing, making it four rounds before being eliminated. While our dial-ins were slightly off, they performed very well, and we are super proud of how far they have come.
Day 3 part two) Sunday afternoon predicted race start time was delayed due to another rain storm. After a 5 hour rain delay we were back at it until very late in the night 1:30am!
Day 4) Monday up early again to finish out race #2 The boys though tired, did well considering we were also fighting windy conditions. Andrew made it through to the 4th round before being eliminated. Weston made it through round 5 before being eliminated as well.
Day 4 part 2) the boys, exhausted but hanging in there and adapting to the ever changing conditions fought hard the last day of racing. Weston went 3 hard rounds before being eliminated, and Andrew fought hard as well and made it to the quarterfinals before turning on one too many lights.
We have learned so much this weekend, made many memories with our fellow racers, and have gathered tons of data to prepare for the divisional race being held next month! And most importantly mom and dad are so extremely proud of these boys for pushing through exhausting conditions and doing so well!
