PKSA Central NC Tang Soo Do is a method of empty hand and foot fighting based on the scientific use of the body in self defense. You get all of that at PKSA Karate.

Training in Tang Soo Do stresses the development of individual character, integrity, and respect for others. PKSA Karate is one of the largest martial arts organizations in the country. We are professionals at changing people’s lives through our martial arts schools. You see, for us, it’s not just about kicking and punching, but actually changing and improving our students’ lives. Where else or what other type of activity can you be involved in that will give you and/or your child more confidence, discipline, self-esteem, leadership skills, teamwork, and an improved fitness level while having fun and learning to defend yourself in this violent society that we live in today? All of our instructors are trained in ways to bring out the best in you and your child, and our curriculum will make you the very best Black Belt that you could be.

You might not know this girl….

Not because she’s not in class consistently giving it 100%, but because she is quiet and self contained. Some may say mysterious, a stealthy ninja even! But behind that calm collected demeanor, she’s a fire ball with a whole lot of impressive skills.

Anique Bridges earned her Black Belt this October after 4 solid years of training. Karate doesn’t have seasons off like other sports. We train all year, so 4 years is an achievement that required from Anique an uncommon commitment and work ethic. Many begin martial arts but very few actually make it to black belt level as she has.

Anique started out with us way back in our school’s early days when we still did Monday night classes in Bennettsville! She learns fast and she works hard in class, we never have to ask her to give extra effort. We are so proud of her achieving her Black Belt! The best part is she is only a freshmen so we get to train with her a few more years as she works toward her 2nd degree black belt before she heads off to college. This girl has big things in her future!

Congratulations, Anique! We are all so proud of you!

We have loved watching Gunnar grow into the martial artist he is today! He’s worked for 6 years solid to achieve his Black Belt and started out with our school as a Little Ninja in the very beginning when we were just renting a gym at a church on 74. We’ve watched him grow not only in stature but in maturity, confidence and skill level. We love to tease him about how he was so shy at 4 that we would have to coax him out from his hiding spot behind the air conditioning unit to take his class. To see his strength and confidence now makes us proud and Gunnar should certainly be proud as well. We look forward to seeing him progress even further as he continues growing in martial arts. Great job, Gunnar!

These 8 students achieved something many never will. They each began a 4-6 year karate program long ago and this fall, they completed their goal to achieve their Black Belt!

Not only have they trained hard and trained consistently for many years, they travelled up to Michigan to join students from all over the country to test for their Black Belt. This Black Belt test is no joke, they were on the mat for around 6 hours displaying all the skills they have learned over the years.

Black Belts are never handed to you. They are earned. It takes commitment. It takes passion. It takes hard work and endurance to face the rough days, the moments of frustration, and the fight to keep going to class when their friends are at home on the couch playing video games and watching TikTok.

These students DESERVE these belts and we couldn’t be more proud to teach them, to know them and to be a part of their story! Way to go and Tang Soo!

Here’s a few pics from their recent banquet where they were each belted by Grandmaster Rich Collins Jr and they read their own story about what being a black belt means to them.

Also a big thank you to Randy Benton for his photography skills!

Friends, please check your sparring bag. We had a student take the wrong bag home and leave theirs here at the dojang. Also, please make sure you are not leaving gear bags/ weapons here. The cubbies are for daily use not a locker room! Thank you!

Today is the parade!
Line up on Washington St, spot #49

Little Ninjas and those unable to walk it can ride on the trailer. Bring a blanket or something soft to sit on.

Students may wear a PKSA instead of the jacket bc of the heat if they wish but please wear uniform pants and belt! They can bring weapons if they like but will need to be responsible enough to control them and to also keep ahold of them!

We have heard it ends over at the downtown circle but we have had trouble getting the actual parade route information for pickup after, if anyone knows for certain, please shoot us a message!

We will keep all students with us until a parent we know comes to get them so please don’t send someone we have never met bc we won’t be able to release them to someone that is a stranger to us.

Message us if you have questions! Check back here on our FB page for updates as it’s the quickest way to get info to all who need it!

Can’t wait to see all our students out to represent PKSA and Richmond County! Tang Soo!
